Newly reopened after renovations “The Skeff” is a beautifully refurbished pub close to all the city center bus stops and the train and bus stations. Its spacious multi-floored interior has a medieval church feel with dark wood and carvings everywhere, and for atmosphere, dècor, design and service it cannot be surpassed. This expansive establishment features six different bar areas and the comfortable couches add to The Skeff’s relaxed atmosphere and comfortable surroundings. The menu is wide and varied, but what really makes The Skeff a hotspot is the mix of people who gather here. At The Skeff people of all ages and styles and locals and tourists intermingle and share good craic and good times. The Skeff is open seven days a week from 7.30am - 9pm, serving breakfast, Carvery lunch and an A-la Carte menu in the evening. Reservations are recommended at the restaurant for weekend nights.
Angela Says: The food at the restaurant is reasonably priced and decent in quality. Though the food is mostly basic pub-fare and nothing too memorable or extraordinary, the atmosphere is great and the drinks are marvelous. The Skeff makes 101 mixed drinks, and here, you can sip anything from a killer “Mai Tai” (my fave) to a clichéd but nonetheless delicious “Sex on the Beach.” The Skeff has a more sophisticated, posh feel than many of Galways drinking establishments, and this is probably because you need to be 21, rather than 18 years of age, to consume alcohol here. A very talented piano player frequently visits the bar and graciously accepts and invites requests. This is a top-notch destination to socialize with friends and enjoy a good drink, and though I give the restaurant food middling reviews, this place is a classy can’t-miss.
