Cooke’s menu offers ample choice and the extensive menu is sure to suit most palates. Fish dishes are Cooke’s specialty and Cooke’s offers a broad and quality selection of wines from around the world. Cooke’s welcomes corporate parties and caters for large groups. Cooke’s serves lunch from 12:30-3:00pm and dinner Mondays to Sunday after 5:00pm. Reservations are recommended.
Angela Says: Cooke’s is one of my favorite restaurants in Galway and I would highly recommend a visit to this dining destination. Cooke’s proves a fun place to dine, and the quirky inner decor gives this restaurant extra flair. The walls are painted a vibrant red, and the dining rooms are decorated with books, candles, chandeliers, funky lamps, and other nick knacks. One of my comrades’s referred to the atmosphere as “intimate and relaxing.” The service is quite good and timely and the waitstaff proves both attentive and helpful. Besides the stellar atmosphere and excellent service, the food was quite good, even if a bit pricey. Our table ordered an appetizer special of Baked oysters spread with bacon and pesto, Scallops & Monkfish tossed in a garlic or lemon butter(€25.95), Grilled Sirloin Steak served with a choice of a port and stilton sauce, pepper sauce or garlic butter (€19.95), an Irish lamb special, and an order of sauteed mushrooms, (€2.95). For dessert, we sampled a fruit crumble and the Bailey’s cheesecake. The food was all very good, although the deserts left something to be desired. The complimentary veggies and potatoes helped round out what had shaped up to be very large meals. Cooke’s serves excellent portion sizes and the food is well presented. This would make an excellent restaurant choice when atmosphere matters, for in this area, Cooke’s certainly excels.
