Eloisa James

In her early twenties, Eloisa decided to go to England to study. She is embarrassed to admit that her decision sprang carelessly from the idea that because she liked rain, English men, Cornish pastries and long baths, England would be a great place to live. She spent two years discovering that most English men came to her shoulder and that she was woefully unprepared to study at Oxford University. In fact, she still has nightmares in which black-gowned professors question her sternly about the accuracy of her footnotes. However, she made a friend in England named Sarah. Sarah had a passion for the novels of Georgette Heyer and Eloisa's wounded pride was soothed by the joy of reading through Sarah's entire collection of romances. The plot for POTENT PLEASURES sprung to mind in England, but didn't get written until years later.

A few years later, Eloisa's dream of writing and being published is a reality. She has shared that first book with us, for this auction. All of her books have received high marks from both reviewers, editors and readers alike. Her next book, A WILD PURSUIT is due out in February, 2004.
