Torti

Physical Description: Torti are short creatures that resemble bipedal tortoises.  Torti stand about three and a half feet tall and are covered in small green-brown scales.  Most notable, however, is their large, sturdy shell which can repel rifle fire.  Torti are noted hunters and can hold their breath underwater for up to six hours. 

Torti Society:  Torti are organized into tribal societies.   Torti are semi-nomadic and organized around a powerful leader, be it a Great Warrior, a shaman, or a respected elder.  The Deeru are noted as capable trappers and hunters and they have in recent years begun to acquire gunpowder weapons from their neighbors in New Andlan as trade, making them more deadly than ever.
