Index of Military Units
Garrison
Imperial Garrison - Imperial Garrison installs order through the use of force. Imperial Garrisons are highly professional but rely on greater amounts of violence to maintain order. As such, territories with Imperial Garrisons often have a somewhat lower 'happiness' rating, but a higher 'law and order' rating. Nonetheless, a garrison unit is of little value on a battlefield and is composed of soldiers armed mostly with side arms, batons, and the occasional rifle/shotgun. Any garrison will have several speedshooters in their possession in the event of large-scale riots, however these troops are trained to maintain order; not resist an invasion.
Republican Garrison - Republican Garrison maintains order through a limited use of force. Republican Garrisons are far more likely to establish order through a combination of limited force, firm legalism, and by working with local indigenous leaders. While Republican Garrisons will use force in the event of a large-scale uprising, they are generally loath to do so. As such, territories occupied by a Republican Garrison have a somewhat lower 'law and order' rating but a higher 'happiness' rating.
National Garrison - National Garrisons are used to maintain order by whichever means the national government determines. National Garrisons can be commanded to behave in a number of different fashions, depending on the needs of the national government and are extremely flexible, but costly due to superior training requirements.
Homeland Garrison - Homeland Garrisons are used to maintain order by whichever means the national government determines. Homeland Garrisons can be commanded to behave in a number of different fashions, depending on the needs of the national government and are extremely flexible. However, Homeland Garrisons can only be used within Homeland regions.

Trench Infantry are armed with a breechloading single-shot service rifle , a bayonet, a sidearm, and a brace of hand grenades. Trench Infantry can be utilized in a variety of different scenarios, including defending fortresses/trenches, assaulting enemy fortifications/positions, and pacifying populations.
Lancers - Lancers are the most common cavalrymen in Ede Rame. Lancers are armed with a breechloading single-shot service rifle , a bayonet, a sidearm, a heavy saber, and a brace of hand grenades. Lancers are primarily utilized for assaulting enemy formations, either with their sabers in melee or with firearms for greater mobility. Lancers are primarily used to punch holes in enemy formations to allow for greater infantry assault.
Bicycle Troops - Bicycle troops are a somewhat more mobile version of the Trench Infantryman. Bicycle troops are armed with a breechloading single-shot service rifle , a bayonet, a sidearm, a brace of hand grenades, and a heavy-duty, collapsing bicycle. Bicycle troops do not use their bicycles on the battlefield, but rather use them to improve mobility by moving from location to location.
SteamTank - SteamTanks are tracked, armored fighting vehicles that are armed with two heavy-caliber speed shooters and a large-bore heavy cannon. The SteamTank is heavily-armored and cannot be harmed by rifles or speedshooters and is resistant to artillery, and can roll-over enemy trenches. However, the vehicle is powered by two coal-fire engines that are prone to breaking down and are heavily dependent on supply lines.
Clockwork Knights - Clockwork Knights are large, humanoid fighting machines. Standing twenty feet tall, the Clockwork Knight contains a single pilot who sits secured in an armored pod in the Clockwork Knight's abdomen. The Clockwork Knight's left arm is a enormous flamethrower which is used primarily as an anti-infantry weapon. In addition to this, the Clockwork Knight is extremely powerful physically and is strong enough to roll SteamTanks, smash fortifications, and can sow considerable destruction in their wake.
Artillery
Speedshooters - Speedshooters are high-speed, heavy-caliber weapons wielded by a two-man squad. Speedshooters fire rapid-fire bursts and are used for defense.
Cannonade - Cannonade are field artillery that can hurl projectiles several miles. Cannonade are relatively mobile and pulled by horses and can even be disassembled to more quick transportation through poor terrain.

It was square-rigged on the foremast and mainmast and lateen-rigged in the mizzenmast. Carracks are generally armed with forty to fifty heavy guns and a number of marines which can be used to engage other ships. While Carracks have become increasingly less useful with the advent of steam power, the Carrack's wind-powered nature allows it a much greater range given its lack of need for coal and large cargo hold which can provide it with a great deal of supplies for long voyages.
Submersible - The Submersible is a specialized watercraft that can operate underwater at great depths to strike at enemy ships. A submersible crew is a very brave, or foolish, group of men, given that the danger of working a submersible is very great. The submersible cannot fight a surface warship with much hope of success, so a submersible is best used to raid merchant shipping or supplying support to larger ships.
Corvette - Corvettes are small, iron-shielded ships that are coal-fired. Corvettes carry a small battery of heavy guns that can be used to attack other ships or provide coastal-support. Generally Corvettes are used to support larger ships rather than fight alone, given their speed and mobility.

Defensive Fortifications
Light Fortress - A Light Fortress is a series of pillboxes that are built to provide housing for speedshooters, light artillery, as well as provide protection for infantry units. The various pill boxes are connected by trenches, which allow troops to be moved quickly back and forth to meet enemy attacks.
Medium Fortress - A Medium Fortress is designed around a large, steel-reinforced concrete fortress with an array of pillboxes surrounding it. The fortress houses speedshooters and artillery. The Medium Fortress is equipped with an array of landmines for additional protection.
Heavy Fortress - A Heavy Fortress is a massive fortification that can repel all but the most sustained of attacks. A Heavy Fortress is a massive, steel-reinforced concrete fortress with a vast array of pillboxes surrounding it. A Heavy Fortress is equipped with significant amounts of heavy speedshooters and heavy artillery to repel any attacker.
Heavy Trench System - A Heavy Trench System can be deployed reasonably quickly to form a solid defensive line. A Heavy Trench System includes various small steel-and-wood barracks at periodic distances apart to provide additional cover and comfort for soldiers in the system. Soldiers are well-protected in the trench from enemy gunfire and any heavy trench system comes equipped with extensive mine field support and barbed wire to hold an enemy at bay.
Trench System - A Trench System can be deployed relatively quickly and provide some cover for soldiers. A Trench System is supported by some mines and a great deal of barbed wire and provides a serious roadblock to any enemy assault.
Land Mines - Land Mines can be quickly deployed to provide cover for an army in the field or as a rapid defensive measure. Land Mines are a huge obstacle to infantry, but mechanized armor can generally traverse a mine field with little difficulty.
Sea Mines - Sea Mines can be deployed quickly as a defensive measure to defend a port of certain sea lanes from enemy intrusion. Removal of a sea mine field is a laborious and dangerous prospect for an invader.
