Elves

Physical Description:  Elves are noted amongst their neighbors are being generally haughty and aloof.  Elves stand between five and five-and-a-half feet tall with a slight build.  As a result, elves are extremely agile and noted for their ability to stalk through the wilderness in complete silence.  However, this means that they often lack the strength and stamina of the other races of Mun.  Elves have long, pointed ears, almond-shaped eyes, and tend to have fair skin and light hair as well as musical voices.  Elves are also the most magically-attuned of the races of the world and their sorcerers consistently rank amongst the world’s most powerful.

Elven Society:  Elven society has a long history of being reverent of nature.  This has been balanced against the teachings of The Unified Church of Naggarium, which maintains an historical fear of nature as a wild and untenable place.  This fear was never as greatly manifested amongst the Unitary Church of Miran and thus faith in Naggarium was much better received amongst the Elves.  Further, elven society has historically been somewhat isolationist from its neighbors, instead retreating into its forest cities and lush wilderness.  In modern times, elven societies have kept pace with their neighbors, but embracing the industrial revolution.  Early elven industrialists worked hard to maintain the balance between nature and industry and were known as Preservers.  However, as it became clear that the humans, trolls, and orcs were unconcerned with the environment, increasingly large numbers of elven industrialists began to abandon the older ways and instead began more destructive, but more efficient, policies.  These industrialists became derisively known as Defilers, which caused considerable outcry amongst the elven communities.  Early attempts were made by elven governments to corral Defilers, but increasingly the profits which their factories brought in were simply too great to ignore.  Thus, elven nations increasingly moved towards the vast industrial cities that were being seen in other nations throughout Ede Rame.  Today there remains considerable frustration in elven nations as many of the people see the rise of industrialization as both an assault on their traditional forest homelands, but also a great boon to elven power in Ede Rame.
