| Tears on My Pillow |
| Written for Kat Tales Random Musical Challenge (Grease) and Labbys Ship Challenge (Harry/Cho)
Cho Chang stepped through the barrier at Kings Cross station and on to platform nine and three quarters. Her mother followed closely behind her, still talking excessively from their lengthy conversation in the train station. She ignored her, though, and instead her eyes fell on the Hogwarts Express. The large, red steam engine was glistening was water droplets in the morning sun after a early-morning rain shower. Cho sighed, tilting her head at an angle. This would be her last trip to Hogwarts. Her seventh year had dawned upon her. Her mother jabbered on as Cho dragged her trunk down the platform towards the back of the train. study zoology her mother rambled and the black-haired girl rolled her eyes. The platform was crowded with students and she nearly knocked over a small boy who looked to be a first yearwas she ever that tiny?as she neared the rear of the train. too skinny She turned to her mother and wrapped her arms around her, effectively stopping whatever rant shed been ignoring. Goodbye, mother, she mumbled, reaching down for her trunk again. Doing this, her eyes inadvertently scanned the platform and ended in the direction where shed just come: the barrier between platforms nine and ten. And just then, a whole slew of people were marching on to the platform wearing half-assed muggle gear and grim expressions. She saw a familiar tuft of black hair right in the center and frowned. Don't remember me, but I remember you 'twas not so long ago, you broke my heart in two Tears on my pillow, pain in my heart, caused by you Harry Potter was the center of attention, as always. He hated it, she knew, but with a prophesized future like his, people naturally flocked to him. One would think it would be the other way around. Cho barely noticed her mum pat her shoulder and leave. Her eyes sought the messy-haired boy. Her eyes glazed with unshed tears. Her heart thudded against her ribcage. Her hands went suddenly moist, but she couldnt look away. She got a tingling sensation in her stomach. The thing that drew her away was a thump on the back and she turned sharply, a nasty remark on the tip of her tongue. When she saw her friend, Marietta Edgecombe, standing behind her she gave her a friendly smile. What were you looking at? Marietta craned her neck, standing on her tip toes to get a look over Chos shoulder. Her eyes fell on the boy and she sighed. Cho, Cho, Cho she shook her head, smiling sympathetically. Its been all summer! I know! Cho sighed, exasperated, and went along lugging her trunk up the steps and on to the train. She found an empty compartment and went inside, situating her trunk on the luggage rack before turning to her friend, who had, undoubtedly, followed her. I see his face everywhere, Cho mumbled and slumped against the leather seat. She crossed her legs, one knee over the other, and folded her hands in her lap. Marietta sat beside her and slung her arm over her shoulder. She patted Chos hand reassuringly, and, when Cho looked up, gave her a toothy grin. If we could start anew, I wouldn't hesitate I'd gladly take you back, and tempt the hands of fate Tears on my pillow, pain in my heart, caused by you The trolley came by ten minutes in to the ride, as the witch who pushes it started in the back, and Cho stood and grabbed her coin purse. Want anything? she turned her head to her friend, her black hair whipping in to her face. Blah, she spat hair out of her mouth and laughed with her friend. Pumpkin Pasties, please, Marietta responded between giggles and Cho set off down the corridor to the trolley. She placed her order and waited for the witch to fill it, along with three other students surrounding her. Cho looked up at a familiar voice, and her eyes widened. You couldnt wait thirty minutes for the trolley to reach our compartment? Hermione Granger, the bushy haired Gryffindor bookworm (i.e. best friend to Harry Potter) was speaking to Ron Weasley, the red headed best mate of Harry Potter. But behind them, what made Cho gasp in shock and drop Mariettas Pumpkin Pasties, was none other than Harry Potter himself. His hands entwined with Ron Weasleys little sister, Ginny. Not so little now, is she? She chastised herself for those thoughts as Harry approached her. Hey, Cho, he smirked. She fumbled. He had no right to smirk. Not at her. Not like that. Good holiday? Lovely. Cho turned around and walked away, fighting tears, to her compartment. The door slammed closed behind her and she finally allowed herself to break down. Love is not a gadget, love is not a toy When you find the one you love, he'll fill your heart with joy I cant believe I was so s-stupid! she sobbed, clutching Marietta, who had rushed by her side the instant shed entered the compartment. What happened? Marietta cursed not going with her friend, especially in her fragile state. H-Harry, Cho gasped out, sobbing like a baby in to Mariettas school robes. She fisted her hands in the black fabric and held on tight as her body was wracked with another set of sobs. What did that tosser do now? Marietta yelled, patting Chos back haphazardly. W-with Ginny W-Weasley. Cho sat up and took three gasping breaths of air upon Mariettas command. Its only been two months! I know! You were together all year! I know! That toss pot! I know! If we could start anew, I wouldn't hesitate I'd gladly take you back, and tempt the hands of fate Tears on my pillow, pain in my heart, caused by you* I feel like my heart chattered in my chest, Cho muttered ten minutes later, after her breathing had returned to normal and tears slowed on her face. Marietta sighed, giving her best friend a one armed hug. I know. *Tears on My Pillow from the musical Grease Cho Chang feels her first real glimpse of heartache when she finds herself coming face to face with the boy she loved with another girl. |
