Why do we get our ears pierced? Well, it's just plain cute. It's trendy. It's a bit rebelious. It's fun. I love to pick out all the cute earrings and just have a grand time!! It lets me stick out from the crowd. Conservative? Just get one set pierced. I got my cartilage pierced(upper right ear).. It takes longer than normal ear lobes to fully recover. But, hey, it's worth it, right?? I want to get my navel pierced next.. I can't wait till 18! That leads us to this part;
How to convince your parents of piercing..

First, let your parents know why you want to get your ear(s), nose, navel, or whatever pierced. Explain how you think it's trendy and that you'll clean your piercing and be responsable. You MUST convince them. If not, forget it altogether.. Now, if you're proposing to get your ears pierced, you shouldn't have a problem. Most parents agree with that. Or at least mine do. You will probably stumble into conflict if you want your navel, for example, pierced. They always connect that with Britney Spears and stuff..and images of her frolicking around pop in their head. This sends of red alarms in their heads(annoying right?). Explain it's not to rebel*unless it is, tho, and that you won't wear belly shirts all the time. Remember-you want to be unique. Saying you want to be like Spears totally blows that idea. You want to be trendy, right? Say it's cool. Just be patient. Asking this sort of stuff when you're 13 will send your parents in a spiral of madness. THey'll freak out and NEVER let you get anything pierced. Ask when you ARE responsable and aren't just bugging or begging for something that would probably end up damaged or infected. You have to be responsable enough. I got my ears pierced when I was 14. *but I had already gotten them when my mom had me get 'em when i was 5, but had to get it re-done. Now, my parents had absolutely NO PROBLEM with me getting cartalige ear piercing. Why? Because for the last few years I PROVED I can handle piercings. Now, in a few years, I'll ask about navel or nose. If they disagree, I'll just wait till Im 18. No problem. See? It's not that hard. Just work your way up.

You see, it really is fun, literally FUN to get pierced ear or whatever. I mean you can choose from SOOO many colors and designs. One minute, you can be flirty and cute, and the next, daring and rebellious. You can be whatever you want to be. Plus, it's affordable and won't hurt real bad. Think about tattoos..yeah, they're VERY popular among teens. But we all know what happens, eh? You get a tattoo when you're mad and then when you're 30 you turn around and think "why the heck did i get that?" and you get it (painfully)removed. Ugh! With a piercing, if you change your mind, you can simply stop wearing it. That simple. No questions asked. HAPPY PIERCING! : ) : ) : ) : ) : ): )
