Pre-activity: (30 minutes)
° Have students pick one thing about their country to research (topic should not be too narrow or too broad).
° Have students find an encyclopedia article and a book in the library and write down the information needed for a citation (given on the attached worksheet).
Introduction (5-10 minutes)
° Ask students where they have been finding information for their social studies projects
° Depending on answers, ask students where else they could possibly find information on their respective country.
° Brainstorm other locations

Discuss
plagiarism and the consequences of this dishonest practice
° Say, “How do we keep from committing plagiarism?”
° Show SF Writer and discuss

Today
we are going to look at an online help tool that helps you form
citations to put into your projects and assignments.
° Have students continue to use chosen topic
°
Tell
students to look for the stated sources online and write down the
needed information.

Give
example of how to plug information into given categories using the
completed sources worksheet. Have
students do this with you.

students use MLA format (optional

their completed worksheet, have students make bibliographic
citations for each source.

processing document.
