The Question: What is Amat?
by Everybody

There are only a handful of people that I can say that they truly loved to study math. During my elementary years, math has always been considered as one of my hated subjects. Partly because of a teacher whose face can really scare the hell out of anyone, but mainly because of the natural dread it brings. I always hoped that math would never be a part of my life. Well, guess what, it's fast becoming my life, and frankly, I don't have the slightest clue why I turned up to be such a complete moron.
It is not that the course is very bad or anything, it's actually good, according to my friends that is. I don't even have an idea what Amat is all about. So I'd better ask my colleagues what Amat really is. Maybe they could enlighten me or something...

Shan - As of now, my understanding about what Amat really is, is not yet clear, what I'm thinking now is...DAPAT MAKAPASA KO!!!

Rey - The only thing I know about AMAT is that, it is, for long, Applied Mathematics! (Zea mays). Seriously, AMAT for me is just one way of enhancing, developing our imagination & our rationality. It is difficult , yeah, because it requires a lot of conceptualization. Trabaho paghuman? Well, God's will be done!

Ailen - As what Doc Navs said, Applied Mathematics is developing Math disciplines to apply in other "disciplines" aside from Mathematics itself. Its scope is too broad that we have a hard time defining unsa gyud ang Amat. Basically, nagabuhat ta ug Mathematical formulas para ma-ease ang mga work sa mga doctors, engineers, managers, accountants, researchers, teachers, etc. . Mao na! LISOD GYUD XA!

Faith - An interchange of R1 and R4
Move this letter to the next row
And move this up to R2
           That's it...Thank You!

Grace - Amat is the most difficult and challenging course that I could ever think of but also an exciting one. Amat is an application of Mathematics and its related fields in the society. It is a course in which you put Math into action. What I like most in Amat is the bonding between the students. Jobs??!! Probably working in a big company, banks, etc. We could be a researcher, too, or a manager...Basta marami...

James - Applied Mathematics is a continuous quest for possible applications of Mathematics. As studes of the ultimate cause, we are commissioned to "compile" Mathematics into "high-level languages" more comprehensible to mankind. Obviously, there's got to be more to applications of Mathematics than what we've known, and there's got to be more formulas yet to exist. Let these words inspire us, all that applications of Mathematics, like any other things, has immeasurable scopes but can still be actualized.

Emmylou - Amat is really a broad course! It is not limited only to Mathematics but is also linked to all fields of science or social science, etc. It is not an easy course. It is like dealing with problems by your own. You have to make your own formula (prove it as well!) You can work anywhere, in any kind of job.

Edelyn - Amat is the application of the pure Math to any field of study (Char lang). Lisod siya! Makabuang! Trabaho paghuman? Ambot! Daghan daw puwede (ingon nila).

Annie - Amat is a course that enhances students' knowledge in the application of Mathematics not only to its field but also to other fields such as biology, genetics, social science, computer science, etc. I would say that it is a difficult but challenging course. It definitely needs patience and practice in solving Mathematical problems.

Cyril - Amat is a journey toward the insatiable dive to the highway of the mind-boggling field of Mathematics and its related fields and apply it to the real world to make it more feasible to humanity. Easy? All I can quote is the saying of the great philosopher Socrates. "I know that I do not know!" Jobs? Puwede model?

Erlinda - No course can ever be compared to the foolishness of Applied Mathematics. Bow, bow, and bow, sige pa 'til you reach the final answer - zero (0). Check...wrong...I have done my best to get the answer yet everything is not sure. Anyway, there's nothing wrong with solving, hence, it can help you become rational. Work? I am still wondering about what to apply since I only know one job related to our course - the cashier. I bring with me my calculator always so I can memorize the arrangement of the numbers. Hehe...Just joking. AMath is good! You'll know many things. Believe me, I'm serious.

Whoa! They all sounded soooooo smart. Makes it kinda hard to pick which one is the correct definition of such a course. I have always been wondering about what Amat means aside from all its technical crap and I got many answers all of them equally convincing. So I have come to a conclusion that Applied Mathematics is confusing. Look at all the definitions it created after exposing this poor fellows to so much math. But the bottomline of Amat is the unification of understanding from different fields of study and converging it to math. Still find it confusing? Why don't you take Applied Math maybe then you'll understand.
