Do you think that any one of us is better off or worse
Having been where we’ve all been?
Do you think that any one of us deserves care more than any other?
Do you think that any one of us was spared?
Do you think that any one of us is stronger than the other?
Or weaker than the rest?
Do you think you know us each by what we say and do and seem?
By the face we show the world?
Do you think that one is stronger or that one is weaker too?
Do you think you should tread softly where you think you see you know?
And be blunt and thoughtless of your words because of what you “know”?
Do you think that you should criticise any one who speaks the truth?
Or sympathise with those who don’t and empathise with none?
Do you think you know the struggles we each have had and how
We came to be where we are today – wherever that may be?
Do you think there’s any one of us who doesn’t feel the pain?
Or one who feels it more?
Do you really think you know?
