Let me see.. new news. What can I think of? This summer (or there abouts) Switchfoot was signed to Columbia (wow!) and have joint distribution with Columbia and Sparrow. This is very exciting news. Their new cd "The Beautiful Letdown" will be out in stores February 25th, 2003. I got a chance to see them in concert (two nights in a row) You can find pictures of those concerts at the bottom of the page.
Switchfoot will be doing a spring tour (2003) starting in march with noise ratchet and [drum roll...] Denison Marrs. I'm way too overexcited about this. Really. I'm so excited! Watch for tour dates at Switchfoot dot com or Denison Marrs dot com Jon was recently nominated, and won the Les Paul Gibson guitar "Horizon" award, which is for best up-and-coming guitarist! Goooooooooo Jon! (haha now i'm being stupid!) This picture is of him at the awards.
Okay. So it's Switchfoot. My favorite band. They're from San Diego, CA. The band consists of Jon and Tim Foreman (brothers) and Chad Butler. I love the music they make, and more importantly to me, their words. It seems whenever I am down, or up or whatever there is a Switchfoot song to go with my mood. The thing I like most is the underlying theme of hope of Switchfoot's music. No matter how crazy, hectic or wacked out this world is, we have a hope in Jesus that can never fade.
I got this shirt at the last concert I saw them at. It's bright orange, and it has the shadow of that^^ picture on the front and back. It looks really neat with Tim and Jon both jumping and Chad having his drumstick lifted up
Concerts
July 10, 1999--Sonshine Festival, Wilmar Minnesota
This was with Jenny in Minnesota, when i went to visit her. It was the first concert i saw them at. I was so excited, and i got to meet them beforehand.
November 11, 1999--Salem Armory, Salem Oregon
My birthday is November 1st, and i told my mom all i wanted for my birthday was two tickets to the concert in Salem and a ride down there and back (it's about an hour away). I got it and my friend April went with me.
March 3, 2000--Sunset Presbyterian, Hillsboro Oregon
This was originally gonna be a "date" with my brother's girlfriend. Just a girls' night out, but at the last minute my BROTHER, Joel decided to come. So phooey on that! Just kidding. It was fun, and i stood around and talked to them later. (and gave Tim my address to this site! But i don't think he's ever visited it).
November 10, 2000--George Fox University, Newberg Oregon
I waited for this concert for a month and a half, and had the precious tickets sitting on my dresser for that long. I drove April, Sarah and Abbie the hour and a half there. We got there so early, we hung out at the Dairy Queen for about an hour. It was a really awesome show, they played a lot of songs. I took a roll of film, so maybe someday I'll get some pictures of it online. I bought a new t-shirt, a new sticker and a new poster. :)
May 13, 2001--Roseland Theater, Portland Oregon
Last date on their tour with Supertones and Relient K. April and Sarah and I got there a little before 4:30 when our special passes let us in. We staked out a spot in front and chilled for an hour and half! Tim sold me my new SF shirt, but they were all out of stickers :(.. oh! And Jon didn't play my song request. Bad Jon! hehe. Pictures from this concert are coming soon, providing that I can find them in my room... hmm...
December 31st, 2001--Sunset Presbyterian, Hillsboro, Oregon
What a great way to end the year. Switchfoot got a good amount of time to play. Jon got the audience to *whistle* "Auld Lang Syne". A new clap was invented by an audience member. Jon completely forgot the verses to "Underwater". My first time standing on the side of the stage, behind speakers. Pretty neat view. Plus, they played "Respect" which made me very very happy and just.. made my night. And of course, as tradition dictates, I bought myself a new shirt.
February 15th, 2002--George Fox U., Newberg Oregon
Ahhhh! Fun fun. I got a group to go from my college, and we had a blast. Up front... put on a great show. After the concert they signed my "Miss Switchfoot" sweatshirt, and we all got a picture with SF. Fun times! One day those pictures will get online.
November 14th, 2002--Wow Hall, Eugene Oregon
Oh man. My roomate, Natalie (also a SF fan. Why do you think I roomed with her?) couldn't it make it to Nov. 15th's show in Portland, so we trekked down to Eugene to see them play. What can I say? It was a small venue, and a great, spiritual experience. It was probably one of the best (if not THE) that I've seen them play. Afterwards I asked jon if they could play "respect" the next night and he said he would see what he could do, and i told him I needed full fledged respect, so tell the rest of the guys. Jon suggested I make a sign to help him remember. what they hey. I did.
November 15th, 2002 (yep, the next night)--George Fox, U., Newberg Oregon
Yeah. A much more wild and rocking concert. Lots and tons and millions of people. Still had front row. Went with a group of girls from my college, and a friend from church. Tons of fun. I made the "Remember? Respect" sign, and once during the concert jon said "i'll get to you later", and later came and picked up the sign, showed the audience, then showed the rest of the band and said "Should we do this one?" Well, they did :) and it was great.
