*this is your dream music*

Nah, really. It is. Beginning with "Holding Hands at 35,000 Feet" released on 6x6 records in 1999, Denison Marrs lets you float away. Throughout the twelve tracks you can close your eyes and almost feel yourself holding hands with someone way up there. The whole cd runs through a theme of a dreamy, starry landscape.

'i'll write about how i finally found You...

In 2001 Denison Marrs released "World Reknown for Romance" on Velvet Blue Music. Holding true to the themed (and somewhat dreamy) music, "World Reknown" speaks highly of love, and what it has to offer. Though many like to attribute the songs' meanings to love between people, Collins (lead singer, guitarist) has said that really the songs speak more about love between God and humans. The catchy "Let's Dance" received some airplay, and is certainly one of those memorable songs you come across that sticks with you. Ha. A neighbor of mine once danced on her chair in her dorm room to this song. Yeah. It's catchy.

...as it turns out, You've loved me all along...

In the summer of 2002 I got to see DM play for the first time. I live in Oregon, which really isn't convenient when you love an indie Florida band. They blew me away at Cornerstone (more on that later). At the merch booth they were giving away samplers for their new cd that was due in August. My brother and I both picked one up, and I became obsessed with the sampler. I absolutely loved it. It was different from the Denison Marrs I knew, but it definitely caught me. For the next month and half that sampler was probably on the top of my "most played" list. On August 20th I went out to pick up "Then is the New Now" and was not disappointed. Drifting more to the rock sides of things (compared to the more dreamy sound of the first two cds), "Then is the New Now" throws more in your face. And, like the two cds before, "Then is.." always leaves you with something to think about. Are you one of the real ones?

...And I wonder if I could be the one for You...

Like I said before, I finally got to see Denison Marrs at Cornerstone 2002. I had been waiting a long time to see them live, and my brother (also a fan) and I discussed whether or not they would be able to pull off that spacey, dreamy sound that they conquer on cd, live. Well, they did. Starflyer59 brought Denison Marrs to Portland (for the FIRST! time) in October. Four pictures are down below. Enjoy :)

...But You just smile and tell me that my new life has begun.'
