November 2nd
I have been feeling like my crotch is going to fall out for the past few days.  There has been all this new and painful pressure down there and then tonight I lost my mucus plug.  Called the mid-wife on call just to make sure there was no cause for concern and of course she said I had to come to the hospital.  I was thinking it would be a quick in and out, but no, then I started having contractions.  We were back in the same room we were in the 2nd time we went to the hospital, so still no tv!  That really sucked when I ended up having to have another shot of turbutilene and an iv.  When Tammy checked me I was 70% effaced and Baby A was at a -1 position.  Yeah, so the reason I have been in so much pain is because Baby A is just kind of hanging out in my pelvis.  We were allowed to leave the hospital this time, at around midnight, THANK THE LORD!!!  But, now I am on complete bedrest.  Glad I went ahead and did all the baby laundry and packed my bag for the hospital.
Baby News
October 10th
Had our regular appointment.  The babies are doing great.  I gained 4lbs and 4cm in my belly in the past two weeks.  The heartbeats were strong, 150 and 160.  After my next appointment I will start going to the doctor every week and I have to go to the hospital every week for non-stress tests.  The babies have to be put on the monitor to make sure they are doing well.

Went to the pumpkin patch to get our pumpkins.  Then the twins got to try on their first Halloween costume... you guessed it, they wanted to be a pumpkin!

Back to the hospital again.  Russ, Cait, and I were just sitting down to watch a movie when the contractions started again.  I waited for awhile this time, but after having 9 of them I had to call.  We got a really small room this time... No TV and we had to stay the night.  They hooked me up to all the monitors as well as an IV.  I also ended up having to get a shot of Turbutilene (sp?) to relax the muscles and stop contractions.  It worked, thankfully.  The babies were as happy as they could be though.  Tammy, our favorite mid-wife so far, let us go at around 8 in the morning after an exam.  She said my cervix is starting to soften.  Hope we can keep these babies under control.
Halloween Fun!
I think the twins are looking great in their first Halloween costume!

Had our weekly appointment.  No change since Saturday night, so that is very good.  I still have to stay on bedrest, so that means no jumping around and dancing at the shower... sorry everyone :)  I'll be starting weekly appointments now as well as going to the hospital weekly for non-stress tests.  They will hook me up to the monitor to check on the babies and make sure they are still doing ok in there.

These girls are fiesty, either that or they just don't like watching movies.  Russ and I were just settling down to watch, "The Count of Monte Cristo" when the contractions started again.  So, back to FMH we went.  If we thought the last room was bad, boy were we mistaken.  This time we ended up in a triage room with two other couples.  I got to stay on a stretcher and Russ got to chill in a rocking chair... no Lazy Boys around here.  Again with the IV and shot.  I still had 2 or 3 contractions every hour, but they were really small, so they let me go at around 9:30 the next morning.  I am now 20% effaced... 80% to go.  I have also been ordered to take it easy, no more vaccuming and laundry, just relaxing.  Guess I better follow orders, these babies still need some cooking time.

Mom took me to my last sonogram app't this morning.  The girls are doing great!  They are both head down, right next to each other.  Baby B is practically right on top of Baby A.  No wonder they are so heavy. Baby A weighs about 4.38lbs and Baby B is 4.36lbs.  They do everything together, apparently even gain weight.  The tech only took good pictures of Baby B, which I will send to work with Russ so he can scan them in.  You'll all be happy to know that she no longer looks like skeletor, she is beautiful.  It is so amazing to see how much they have grown.  Well, since I am not even supposed to be up here at the computer, it is time to sign off.  I'll get the new picture on and let you know about the NST soon.
October 21st
Changed our regular appointment from Thursday to tomorrow, upon orders from Jeannie (the mid-wife we saw on Friday).  Hopefully we will get our sonogram results and glucose test results.  It would also be nice to get good news about the status of the babies.  Jeannie said she could feel the head of Baby A, but that she was still bouncing around- not engaged yet.  I am hoping that is still the case.  Six or seven more weeks would be good!
November 8th "Happy Birthday Russ!"
Went for the first non-stress test.  Apparently it was only non-stress for the babies.  They did great, but my blood pressure was high, so what was supposed to be a 30 or 40 minute appt turned into a 3 hour one with great highlights like giving a pee and blood sample.  Poor Russ got pulled away from birthday celebration drinks to come to the hospital just as they were letting me go.  Sorry honey.
October 22nd
Had our appointment today.  The babies are growing bigger and bigger.  My belly is now measuring at 38 weeks, but I am only starting my 30th week!  My jaw dropped today when Terry, the midwife, said that 34 weeks is really good for twins.  I could definitely go longer, but the twins would be good at 34.  Everytime I turn around time is slipping away.  So far though there has been no dilation.  Keep your fingers crossed for us!  Tonight is child birth class, there wasn't one last week.  Only one more after that, at least then I'll have all the breathing techniques!
November 9th
Today was our baby shower.  We are so lucky to have so many wonderful friends.  Unfortunately, since I am supposed to be on bed rest, I got stuck in a seat and was not allowed to move.. unless it was to another seat.  I didn't get a chance to talk to everyone, but I just want everyone to know how happy we were to have you there.  Congrats to Amby's Dad, Terry, for winning the Baby Bottle of Beer contest.  Nice effort though on the part of everyone else.  I also want to thank everyone who spent so much time making the party so perfect.
October 29th
Last child birth class tonight.  We learned all about c-sections.  You know, there is an awful lot that you never hear about concerning the whole birth process.  Did you know it takes 40 minutes after the birth of the baby to sew you up after a c-section??  You also don't get to eat for like another 12+ hours.  Yuck!  No OB app't today, after the next one is when we start going weekly.
November 12th
Our appointment went great.  The mid-wife said this is the easiest twin pregnancy she has ever seen.  She said most twins don't stay so close to the same size and grow as well as ours have.  We are so blessed.
