Bind Up My Life
Mama Earth Days

Presume

Do not presume
To know the hearts
Of mothers
As they grieve
For their fallen children
Nor measure the bitterness
Of their tears
Against what is widely known
Just let them grieve
And leave them
To remember the time
When they could smile
Path

You are my path
Your heart my torch
The forest is dark
Ahead of me
I dont know what
Is around that bend
Little yellow eyes
Shining out at me
From a murky wood
Bumps in the night
Villainous creatures
Or just the stubbed toe?
Hold my hand my friend
Let your heart light my way
If only for tonight
Stay..
Remember That Day?

Remember that day?
The lake was such a shimmer
With the sun and the wind.
You dropped
Into my view

Your wings
In the shadows of the sun
Were outstretched
And you circled the lake
Once,
Twice,
I was transfixed in your arc

Then you turned into the wind
And hung there suspended before me
You watching me
Watching you

With a slight dip of a wing
You slipped under the current
And slipped away.
Remember that day?
Thaw

The marshs thaw
Glistens among the cattails
There are pools of it to be found
Shimmering in the breeze
Warming in the sun
Waiting
You can smell it in the air
Anticipation
You can almost touch it
Hidden among the oak leaves
Whispered among conifers
Cry of a young bird
The trees are creaking
Stretching their toes
In softening loam
Tales for Thee

Come, tales for thee
From the Great Black Sea
And lots of rosy dawns.
The mermaids cry
In the cold dark mist
And the sirens sing their songs..

Let me weave them with myth and allegory;
Let me dye them with the dust
Of a purple hue;
Fairy gold found by the pale moonlight;
Now you tell me which is true
