Great start...made it to train station with minutes to spare.
Got ticket, had small man help me with luggage to platform, then some 6th sense told me to check for ticket and it wasn't there.
Rang Grace with some girl's mobile...she couldn't find ticket..told her I am coming back home.
Went back to ticket counter which wasn't busy for a change, and the girl there managed to cancel ticket and rebook me to Yeongsan, and told me taxi to Seoul, and then airport limousine bus ....and I would get here by 13.00. Sounded good so paid her $22 for KTX Express train, and $10 for the limousine bus.
Left bags there, got taxi back, and Mr Bec waiting with the ticket I had left on the desk when I filled in the departure card...he had organized taxi to take me to Daejeon, so got into a discussion there, as I wanted to travel KTX, the super fast train...and his taxi friend took me back to station, another little man helped with luggage to station, got the express that travels at 294-300km perhour...did the trip in 90 minutes.
Then got taxi to Seoul, cost $4, then got on limousine bus, but different company...just paid again...$8, and here I am 4 hours early...
Had a KFC which was awful, and came up here and discovered the internet is free. Great Times...
So I am nearly out of Korea for 7 days winter vacation.
This is the first time I have left ticket ehind..I check and double check everything, and because I decided to fill out the departure ticket at home, it got out me off the routine.
Its funny how when I told Mr Bec, everything was there, I couldn't remember where I had put the ticket...and thats why I decided to check for it before getting on the train.
What an adventure.. Hope the rest of the vacation goes without these minor expeditions into unreality.
The train ride was super. I took some photographs and thats when i relaised tarin was going fast, as they did not seem as clear as usual. The scenery changes. There were many greenhouses, and rice fields still with the harvest cut.
Seoul is amazing. Huge city. The ride to Incheon was amazing as you have to cross a huge bridge over the ocean. I saw these people at what looked like an observatory , and they were viewing over huge sand bank rocks in an awesome formation. They go for a few hundred metres, then the water is there with the ocean liners, and islands, and the other bank has these strange sandbank, rocklike formations again. I took photos from the bus. Where they ended, there were levee banks and rice fields.
The airport is huge...
