It was very cold this morning.
I went to the school I teach at this morning, wearing thick woollen stockings, a woollen skirt, a woollen sweater and a long camel coat. I wrapped a silk scarf around my neck and wore lambskin gloves with woollen lining.
Still I froze.
The schools like me to take off my shoes and wear these strange slippers they provide.
I flopped around in them feeling even colder. The children were cold too as there is no heating in the first classroom and they were very active this morning because of the cold.
After school I called for the car and the driver was still asleep. This was 12.25.
I could not make the lady in the warm main office understand that I would like to stand there till the car came. She sent me out as it was her lunchtime. Sadly I walked out into the cold to wait for the car.
It was very cold and it started to rain. I huddled under a tree but because there were no leaves, there was also no protection. I waited shivering and getting more and more cold, and I was quite cold when I was finally collected.
I came to school where I teach in the afternoon...the English school and it is freezing here too. I lit the small bar heater and if it is radiating heat, I cannot as yet feel it. I am gladdened by the glow. My fingers are frozen and I am so very cold. I type this and wonder how to get warm........
I think of "The Little Match Girl", one of the stories in the students book, as I know she was even colderthan me.
This is my Monday morning...Its now 2.20 and I am still cold.
I bought an electronic English-Korean Dictionary yesterday and am learning how to use it. I am trying to learn Korean. I do not have a memory for languages and find it difficult.
