Taxi Drivers Garden...

Tax drivers spend most of their life in the taxi.

You can tell the guys who take their job very seriously, own the taxi and also who spend most of their life in the taxi. Many of these owner-businesses have made the taxi into a mini office, complete with a television, a few religious statues or ornaments, the odd statue or hanging toy, an electronic map, and of course the latest mobile. Most of these professional taxi drivers are also well dressed, in a suit complete with a tie, and this guy had this little garden glued onto the front panel. His entire car had all the above and he looked like what he was...a successful business man in his office. Only the computer was missing, and the coffee machine.

The taxis in Daejeon, and there are many...seem to be very professional with drivers wearing uniforms, and often white gloves and have that chauffeur look. The Nonsan Taxis are not like that..they seem to be either owner driven, like the one above, or with drivers, and then the care and service is often just not there. There are many taxis and they vie for business, and I know we use the one taxi to take me to school and when we need a taxi, for his attention to detail and his service.

The other evening when it had been snowing, Grace and I came back in a taxi, and the driver dropped us outside the apartment block and refused to take us in, because  'there were too many cars there. I couldn't believe it, but humbly followed Grace, and we walked up the steep slippery road to the apartment in minus degrees, when the taxi we paid for should have taken us to the entrance. Grin!!!
