This panel came off an armoire in a teachers apartment, and it looked interesting to see male items draped off this very elegant and expensive piece of furniture. I closed the doors, and photographed it from every conceivable point of view in its entirety.
It must have been a donation to the University, or it may have been left there by a past tenant, which would be the most logical explanation, as it is heavy solid wood and very ornate.
The entire piece is decorated with sumptuos panels of beautfiful designs....peacock, deer, cranes, flying doves, river bulrushes, water lilies and trees. I just love it.
I photographed another dusty, and discarded, now being used for storage of shed items in an old house in the country, and again wondered at the marvel of people discarding what is an art piece. Oriental art deco, but terribly ornate and extremely well put together with good timber and much inlaid mother-of-pearl.
