The rice before it was harvested turns golden.
Then it is cut down with sythes and threshed.
Most of the work is done by hand....and the people who work in the rice fields can get quite bent and worn out very quickly.
I see many old people walking along as I drive to school, and they are mostly all bent over double, or very bandy and disorted, because of their lifetime work with the rice.
The fields are very beautiful at every stage....but this stage is rich with the promise of the harvest. The heads of rice hang rich and heavy, plump and golden in the sun.
Its a promise of a good harvest and a rich crop. This area is very good farming country and the fileds were all abundantly stocked with lush looking rice ready for harvesting.
