Registered Alien...sounds Ominous
photo

I am an Alien.

Not only am I an Alien but I am a Registered Alien.

I like the sound of that.

I have been teaching in Korea now for 3 months and the school applied for the 12 month working visa which I now have.

I like teaching in Korea.

The students are very well behaved, and if they do not behave, a small word in the ear of the Principal soon fixes that problem.

Wish the schools in Australia would learn to gain the respect for teachers in the same way.

Korea has a 97% Literacy rate and because as far back as the 15th Century, a visionary leader called King Sejong commissioned his scholars to create a system of writing that all his people could learn to read. The Korean alphaabet has 24 basic letters, which are combined to make double sounds.  The schools are very serious about having the students learn, and the parents are prepared to spend extra money for tuition beyond the basic school.

This has led to a very serious bunch of students, and they are really keen to learn....until they reach the teen years, but the students here are no way as rude or undisciplined as the students in the australian schools I have been teaching.

So I love teaching here, and its fun having another identity card where I am an alien...
