Part VI: The Cure
Felix, with a race against time (and a guy with a gun!), began experimenting up a storm in his lab. Therefore, in effort to save his life and appease the mobster, he just started putting the compound through a variety of different experiments.  He had already concluded that the problem with the salicin and salicylic acid was that the acidity was too strong for the stomach lining.  So, he covered up one of the acidic parts with an acetyl group, converting the salicylic acid to acetylsalicylic acid (ASA).

In 1897, when he finished his creation, Felix believed that this ASA was safer and worked better than the salicin or salicylic acid had.  Felixs creation was going to help people and the peoples suffering could end at last.

Except no one wanted to try his pain relievers because they were still scared from the salicylic acid that made their digestive tracts bleed.  However, after two years of testing, the ASA was proven to be both safe and efficient by the top chemists at Bayer.

Immediately after its approval, Bayer began selling its new pill everywhere.  Bayer still sells it's product and is one of biggest companies in the pain reliever industry today.

And as for Jed, he's in the big house.

Try saying acetylsalicylic acid ten times over.  Can you do it??? Well dont feel bad, not many can, thats why the name was changed to what it is today, aspirin.
"We had it first!"
Jed may be in jail, but he will never be denied his rights of Bayer pain reliever.
The end????
