Aspirin is the prototype of the salicylates and it contains Acetylsalicylic acid or ASA. Aspirin can come in either tablets or capsules. In the tablet form it is a white crystal or crystalline powder. In the capsule form the addtion of dipyridamole is used, which gives it gelatin like shell. This dipyridamole is said to be the "immediate release tablet."
