Most of my pottery is hand thrown on the potters wheel, and all are unique pieces.
Maiolica is a style of earthenware pottery that is said to have originated with the Islamic pottery going through the island of Majorca for sale to the Europeans. It is traditionally a terracotta clay covered in a white tin glaze and over-glazed with colorants.
Raku is a style of firing, originating in Japan. In Raku pottery a red hot piece of pottery is taken from the kiln and put into a combustable material. The pottery is shocked and will create a crackled appearance in the glaze which will trap the carbon in the cracks. In Americanized Raku the piece is sent through a reduction where the fire of the combustable material is starved of oxygen and a lusterous glaze decoration results.
My Jewelry is made from precious metals such as silver and 14 kt gold. All stones used are natural gemstones.
Some pieces in my collection have tiny treaures of majolica pottery that I have made and set in Sterling Silver settings. These pieces are one of a kind.
