John Roberts: 2 legit 2 be accepted.

The politics involved with the nomination of John Roberts for the supreme court is kind of ticking me off (are you detecting a pattern here yet). I'm not annoyed by the fact that John Roberts has been nominated. I'm not annoyed by the fact that he seems to be a very conservative politician. What annoys me more than anything is the fact that it's because of his political views that liberals are fighting his nomination tooth and nail. It's because Mr. Roberts is "ultra-conservative" that he apparently is being vilified. And just who is doing the vilifying you ask? The extreme left.

Let me just point out something here: don't put a lot of stock into what groups like the N.A.A.C.P, the A.C.L.U and Green Peace say about stuff like this. To be accurate the only group in that last sentence that has said anything is the N.A.A.C.P but I figured that naming the other two would give you a rough idea of what types of people the extreme left are. The reason I say to not listen to everything they have to say is because from their point of reference, anybody who takes a conservative stand on anything is ultra-conservative. For example, certain of Robert's rulings on race and sex discrimination don't fit these peoples politically correct views. They ignore the fact that in spite of these Roberts has fought for equal treatment no matter who you are. Just because he doesn't feed into the politically correct garbage the left propogates doesn't make him an evil person. I guess we should have more liberals on the bench like Sandra Day O'Conner (who is no longer there thank God) or Ruth Bader Ginsburg, that way we can have more stupid decisions like allowing the government to take away your property if they think it would be better for somebody else. God forbid they should actually read the Constitution and take it at face value instead of reading stuff into it that isn't even implied.

Another thing that annoys me about this whole fiasco is the ad-campaigns on TV. If this were a presidential election that would be one thing but the American people don't even vote or have any say in the matter. The only thing somebody can do is write their congressman who I'm pretty sure already has his mind made up about this anyways. It's a waste of money for these people to put up these commercials. This whole thing is political because the liberals don't want anybody that's conservative and has absolute standards to rule on the Supreme Court because then they couldn't continue to promote their socialistic ideals. If it were the other way around they would be thrilled to death that another die-hard liberal was on the bench ready to screw over the American people. It works both ways.

John Roberts should definitely get the position because he is a man of character, is grounded in his beliefs, and doesn't conform to the whole politically correct bit. He also has reading comprehension and doesn't have to guess what the Constitution means by reading his own convictions into it. We don't need anymore pansies on the bench that are worried about hurting peoples feelings or oppeasing the status quo. John Roberts is the man.

Update: Since this post, Justice William Renquist died and John Roberts has taken his place.
