Why is Herenton sending us all to hell? Simple. A while back he appointed Joseph Lee (a.k.a. puppet) as the head of M.L.G.W (Memphis Light Gas & Water). Well just recently it was reported in the paper that one of the Ford family (a major political machine here in Memphis), Edmund Ford, Hadn't paid around $16,000 in utilities. This is due to the fact that the aforementioned puppet basically told him not to worry about it. Why? Because if there's one thing about leadership in Memphis is that under the table deals are pretty much a way of life. Now, Ford apparently wasn't the only one who got such a favor. A list of other beneficiaries of such shady deals was reported as well, the majority being black leaders. Now I'm not trying to say that this is racially motivated at all, since the majority of Memphians are black (hence the name Memphrica) but with the frequency that black leaders in Memphis play the race card it wouldn't surprise me. Even worse is that these people who got such a deal aren't unable to pay their bill. One person (I can't credit who because I don't know their name, though it was on the radio here) stated that Harold Ford Sr. (another corrupt politician from the Ford family....not that there is any other kind but even he makes the other Ford's look like saints) could have sold the gold watch he got from another shady deal, paid off Edmund's bill and still had enough to pay child support (he puts most NBA players to shame).
So what's this have to do with Herenton? He refused to let Lee (remember, puppet) resign because this is all just a witch hunt by the media. Keep in mind Lee has already confessed that he is guilty of these accusations. He is wrong, and the media was right to expose it. But Herenton can't afford to let his puppet resign so he refuses to validate the resignation. So to recap, a puppet of Herenton's is shown to have been engaged in illegal business practices. He tries to resign. Herenton says that the media is just trying to find someone to blame, even though they blamed the right person. In conclusion, Herenton won't allow the punishment of someone who did something wrong.
So I reccomend you all try and go buy some handbaskets. Go tell you're friends. I don't think they make asbestos handbaskets. We can give the asbestos ones to the political leaders here that way if the fires of hell don't kill them, the cancer will.
