I don't know about you but when there's a great show on tv and they end the season with a cliffhanger that leaves you wondering what the heck is going on, I get kind of annoyed. I hate wondering what the heck is going on. Like right now I'm pretty sure my room has become posessed. Hurricane Katarina is causing some wonderful, torrential, downpours here in Memphis and there is a flood watch for Shelby County until about noon tomorrow because the weathermen predict about 20 inches of rain across the city. What's weird is the fact that my Altec Lansing speakers that I use for my laptop and/or cd-player are on top of my tv, completely turned off and yet they are putting out enough volume to raise the dead (most likely due to the lightning and the storm outside). It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't picking up the frequency of a crappy soft-rock/r&b station and I didn't have to listen to I Believe I Can Fly or if I could turn off the sound. But because I can't I have to wonder why I can't stop it or why it's doing that. It's very annoying. This is how I feel about most season finale episodes. Why am I talking about this? Why not talk about it? I just saw the season finale of The 4400 on USA. For those of you who have never seen the show you can buy the first season on DVD at Wal-mart for about $20 (there were about 5 episodes in the first season because it was a pilot season). It's well worth the buy. Anyways for those who have never heard of it, the basic plot of the series is that for about 60 years 4400 people were abducted. Then all at once they return and haven't aged a day since their abduction. For example the little girl on the show, Maya Rutledge, was abducted back in the 50's and is still about 9 years old when she shows up again. Anyways as the series progresses you find out that the 4400 were returned with special abilities. Some psychic, some healing, some strength and so on. At the end of season one you find out who abducted the 4400 and why. Then season two kicks in. Season two was awesome. You learn a lot more about what's going on and near the end of the season you find out why certain of the 4400 never showed signs of special abilities. Near the end the 4400 seem to have contracted a disease that affects their powers and seven people die. A massive government conspiracy is uncovered but it's stopped, the 4400 return to normal (as normal as they can be) and some of the characters in the show who haven't shown signs of special abilities suddenly show (for a brief second at the end of the season finale) signs of having special abilities. Then they show some scenes that make no sense and leave you wondering "what the heck?". Even with that though it was a great season finale and they ended it well. That and the ending minutes where they show certain things happening that give closure to certain scenes and open up material for next season, they were playing This is your life by Switchfoot which actually fit a lot of what was happening. Great song. If you haven't heard it before, download it off of the internet. Here's my suggestion: shows like The 4400 should never have season finales. Make all the shows at once and then run them. Yes it's a pain and it's probably expensive and the actors would be sick of it but they exist to entertain me, not to be comfortable. Is that selfish of me to want that? You had better believe it but if you've seen the show you'll understand. You people should quit being lazy and churn out tons of episode. On second thought if you do that you'll end up sucking like Friends. For God's sake don't do it, I take it back. Take your time and keep making an awesome series. So in conclusion you should watch The 4400. It's a great show and if you think it sucks you have horrible taste. Go buy the first season and watch the re-runs on USA. NOW! SCHNELL!![]()
