Slipknot wants to sue the socks off of Coq Roq? What a crock!

That was a fun title to come up with. Anyways let me just say that for once there is an ad campaign that I actually like. There are a few actually. The new Sonic commercials are pretty good and who can't help but like the Capital One ads with the out of work barbarians? That's great stuff. In addition to these gems of advertising, there is a fast food campaign outside of Sonic that I actually like. Burger King has decided to vary their ad campaign much like most companies should do (either that or target everybody at once). For once Burger King has actually made me consider buying their food. I won't because I'm dedicated to Wendy's $0.99 menu which is mess cheaper than anything at Burger King. Regardless, some of the new ads feature a hard-rock/heavy-metal band known as Coq Roq and features a band which wears chicken hats/masks when they perform. I'll be the first to admit that they are pretty much a stereotype of how modern hard-rock/heavy-metal bands sound but even still I think it's actually kind of cool. The reason I don't have a problem with Burger King doing this is because this is one of a few different ad campaigns so it's not exclusive to people who listen to hard rock. I tend to like that type of stuff like Metallica, Staind, Three Days Grace as well as milder stuff like 3 Doors Down, Offspring, and (dare I say it) Avril Lavigne. If you have a problem with Avril, you suck. "She's not really punk, blah blah blah blah blah nobody cares." I don't care whether she is or not. So what if I'm a sucker for hot-girls who sing rock big deal. I also love listening to Evanescence because Amy Lee's voice is so utterly beautiful. I would use the word omni-beautiful to describe Amy's voice if it were a real word since it would mean beautiful in all possible forms. Avril Lavigne is hot and if you hate her music you suck. I'm not quite sure where I'm going with all this but my point is that Burger King now has my respect once again (for now). Yes I know I took a very round about way to say that.

Now here comes the funny part. The heavy-metal band Slipknot made a fuss about the fake band Coq Roq by saying that Coq Roq stole their (Slipknot's) style. Apparently this is because Slipknot is the only band to ever use masks and such in their videos, and concerts, and everyday life. Perhaps they forgot about bands such as Kiss and ICP to name just two. Can you imagine Metallica suing The Offspring because they use electric guitars and use power chords? I'm pretty sure that that case would be laughed out of the court room because most bands do that. For Slipknot to gripe about something like this is retarded. All they want is publicity because I'm pretty sure nobody has heard from them in a long time (or at least not anything good from them). Slipknot sucks and this is all they have to try and get their popularity back. This is basically what Ellen Degeneris did when she realized that her career was circling the drain and decided to exploit the fact that she was a filthy, disgusting, lesbian and suddenly her career skyrocketed. That makes no sense to me. The only way I can see this working for Slipknot is if they told everybody that they were a group of lesbians, then they might be popular again. Sadly though it's pretty obvious your career is in the town septic system when you have to try and sue a band that doesn't actually exist. Give it a rest guys. You're finished. Maybe "Slipknot" describes the way your career has tied a noose and hung itself. That would be more fitting. At least you can remember your glory days when you didn't suck. Oh wait, nevermind there never was a time you didn't suck. Quit you're whining and go away. Nobody wants to hear your "boo-hooing" over a fake band that you wish liked you enough to copy you. Now if you don't mind I'm going to go look at pictures of Avril Lavigne and maybe force myself to dream about her tonight. That would be so awesome. SCORE!
