TURU

The place which is now Turu was a forest, being a parof Mount Arayat. The families like the Manabats, Liwanag , Suings, Pangilinans, Licups, and Clementes were the first settlers of the place for they occupied the place which they were able to clear. They called the place La Paz, Arayat under the leadership of Pedro Manabat.

Howeverin 1958 the families who lived nearer to Some Barrios of Magalang like Balitucan and Sto. Niño Separated from the mother barrio, La Paz, Arayat. This newly formed sitio was named Turu. Turu and Sto. Niño became sitios of San Agustin but later on, during the leadership of Jesus Manabat, Turu became o sitio of Balitucan.Through the effort of Jesus Manabat who was then a newly elected municipal councilor, Turu officially became a barrio during the time of Mayor Benedicto T. Dayrit. The barrio Lieutenant at that time was Florentino Dizon who served from 1968-1971.

Turu got its name according to some old people of the barrio from a deer or "usa" which suprisingly appeared in the barrio. The "usa" was unique because its horns were straight pointing upward to the sky which the people said "tuturu la banua". Since that time they called their place Turu.
