Afghans for Angels

Welcome to my " afghans for angels " page. My name is Maggie and I am the director of the North Houston Chapter of the organization. Afghans for angels is a not for profit organization, made up of 100 % volunteers, who work endlessly making tiny baby blankets to donate to their local area hospitals to give to the parents who lose their baby thru infant death, stillborn, or late miscarriage.

When a child dies it is devastating to the entire family, but mostly to the mommies and daddies. They have waited for this blessing from above only to have it called home too soon. The blankets are lovingly wrapped around the babies, and the baby is given to the parents for their first hello and final good-bye.

The blanket is to some the only thing they have to remember their baby. this organization strives to ease a little of the pain of lose any way we can. You can get more information by visiting the " afghans for Angels " headquarters site at: "afghans for angels" or send a self addressed stamped envelope to:

Since we have no funding to become a licensed charity we rely totally on donations from various sources. We need yarn, paper to print the staff cards and parent cards, postage to mail info to new volunteers and the white boxes we put the blankets in. If you know of anyone who can help it would be greatly appreciated.

I want to thank Ruth for her endless work on this project and for allowing me to be a part of it.

I also want to thank Wal-Mart store #297 porter,tx and #249 cleveland,tx for their generous donation of yarn.

                                    Heaven's special child

a meeting was held quite far from earth. " It's time again for another birth. " said the angels to the lord above. " this special child will need much love, her progress may seem slow, accomplishments she may not show, and she will require extra care from folks she meets down there." "her thoughts may seem far away, in many ways she won't adapt, and she will be known as handicapped." " so let's be careful where she is sent, we want her life to be content, please lord find the parents who will do this special job for you " " They will not realize it right away, the special role they are asked to play, but with this child sent from above, comes a richer much stronger love. " " and soon they'll know the short privilege given, in caring for their gift from heaven. Their precious charge, so meek and mild: is " Heaven's very special child

the above poem is for my granddaughter Haley Lynn, taken from us too soon
