Tribute to Those Who Served in World War II

Welcome to my page honoring our heroes, fallen and survivor's, from World War II.    I can remember how proud the country was of our president and the military who were defending our country.

Maybe it was because there was no television and widespread media, but you didn't hear all the bickering and self-serving politicians so critical of the way the country was run.     There was no second guessing why we had to send our military to another country to defend this country.     The people supported our government and showed a united front.

The politicians and the media didn't find every crumb to complain about.     They didn't take every heroic act and find some sinister side to it and dimish the act itself.     It's no wonder other countries have become so distrustful and critical of the United States.     If we can't trust and support our ELECTED president in times of such danger from outside this country, why should other countries support us.

The politicians and media could learn a big lesson from those who served in World War II.     I, for one, am proud to have lived in that era and was able to see what a true American and patriot was like.     We haven't seen it since and frankly it breaks my heart.

Below is a piece from an AirForce website that describes the new WW II Memorial. For those of us who have not seen it, I thought it was interesting to know about it. It is long overdue, but I am sure it is appreciated by the veterans who are still around to enjoy it.

World II Memorial

WASHINGTON -- The World War II Memorial is nestled between the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument on the National Mall here. Names of each U.S. state, territory and the District of Columbia are inscribed on marble pillars in the order that they entered the Union. Bronze oak and wheat wreaths adorn each pillar symbolizing the nation's industrial and agricultural strength.
