Larnaca is a
heady cocktail of character and entertainment, where ancient
civilisation comes face to face with our
century.
Founded as Kition
by Mycenean settlers of the 13th century BC, Larnaca was never
intended to be a coastal resort, but holidaymakers have recently
discovered a tourist town which offers the perfect blend of old and
new. From the modern Marina at one end, to the ancient Fort at the
other, its palm-lined seafront is punctuated by food stalls,
tavernas, discos and outdoor restaurants.
Nightlife in
Larnaca can be as lively as you want it to be. But for those not
wishing to dance the night away, all the simple pleasures of life
are there to be enjoyed, from simply strolling along the seafront to
the imposing old Church of Saint Lazarus, to enjoying a meze at one
of the many fine tavernas in the town.
