Sinbad was wearing white breeches, white shirt and vest. Bryn was wearing a white gown, too, instead of her usual pale brown dress. It was their wedding day. It was to be held at the Caliph of Baghdad’s palace. The palace itself had been transformed into a beautiful garden full of white roses and hyacinths. It was going to be a simple, romantic wedding that the Caliph thought was perfect for his sailor friend and his beloved.

Maeve stared at her Seeing Eye pool, her heart shattering to pieces. A hand patted her shoulder, and as she looked up she saw Dermott smiling sadly at her, his eyes a mirror of the hurt and pain she was experiencing. It was known to her that Dermott loves Bryn with all his heart, just as Maeve loves Sinbad with her own. “Oh, Dermott.” She mumbled, biting her lips to stop herself from crying. But it was of no use. After Maeve had defeated Rumina and returned Dermott to his normal figure, she decided to surprise Sinbad by appearing on the Nomad unexpectedly. But as she moved to where he was, she saw him and Bryn wrapped in a passionate embrace. What she saw was enough evidence for her; that Sinbad does not love her now, perhaps he never did. She buried her face in her hands, her body being racked by sobs. It hurts too much to think that he had fallen for another woman. Oh, why was she so stupid? How could she even think that the captain was in love with her? She cried and cried, her tears seeming endless. “Maeve,” Dermott said, but stopped as he heard his voice break at the end. He knew what her sister was feeling. He’s feeling it, too, for he loved Bryn more than his own life. He wrapped his sister in his embrace, holding her tight. It broke his heart to see his beloved marrying another man, but what shattered it was seeing his sister crying and slowly fading to oblivion. “Dermott, how could they not wait for us? Why did they betray us?” Maeve whispered to him. Dermott could not control it… his tears began to fall, too. “Oh, how I wish I knew, Maeve. How I wish I knew.”

Sinbad shifted uncomfortably at what he was wearing. How he wished that this day would be over. It was the Caliph’s order that he and Bryn be married in the first place. He had agreed, not because he wanted to marry Bryn, but because his mind was two steps behind his mouth. For he had sworn not to break any of his words, Sinbad was forced to abide by it. He looked around him, wishing that, for some miracle, a red head would appear. Oh god, he missed Maeve. He often found himself dreaming that one day, he would be waiting for her at the altar. But no, reality was here, it could not be denied. He was waiting at the altar, alright. But not for Maeve. Not for the woman he knew would be the only one who could complete him; his other half, the other end of his life. He sighed, and waited for Bryn to appear.

Bryn was taking every possible minute to lengthen her being single in life. She never wanted to marry Sinbad; she wanted to marry Dermott. She did not want to see a blue-eyed man waiting for her, she wanted to see a hazel-eyed man waiting for her with his smile that she loved so well. She cursed the Caliph silently. She knew that her life, as well as Sinbad’s, would be miserable once this day would be over. How could it not, for both of them are marrying the wrong person? She wanted Sinbad only as a friend, not as a lover, and certainly not as a husband. She sighed.

“No, Dermott. I do not want to see him. If you want, go see Bryn yourself, since you want to experience more pain than you are now.” Maeve said to his brother. “Maeve, I know that it will hurt a lot to see them marry, but it is necessary for us to move on.” Dermott reasoned out. Maeve looked at him, surprise and anguish in her eyes. “How can you say that? How can you possibly move on after seeing that the person you love is marrying someone else?” she asked. “Trust me, sister. The pain will go away. We have each other to cling to. Our life would continue without them.” Maeve raised her knees and hugged them. “Your life may continue, but mine cannot. Not without Sinbad.” She whispered. Dermott grabbed her shoulders and shook her hard, trying to bring his sister to her senses. “Look, Maeve. You’re not the only one who’s experiencing heartache and pain. I’m experiencing it, too. Do you want to live with it for the rest of your life? Listen to me. You have to unburden yourself to Sinbad. Let him know what you really feel about him.” “What good could it bring? Nothing’s going to change. We can’t do anything to change it!” Maeve shouted, tears spilling in her cheeks. “Maybe, for them it will mean nothing.” Dermott said, gulping the lump that had formed in his throat. “But for us it will mean everything.” He said, quietly. He held her trembling hand in his. “Please, Maeve. I don’t want to see you hurting so much. Please, do this for yourself. And for me.” Dermott pleaded. Maeve looked at his brother’s eyes. ‘He’s the only one who can understand what I’m going through,’ she thought. “Okay.” She reluctantly agreed. “Good.” Dermott used his power and misted them out of their room.

Bryn was arranging the flower in her hair. She sighed irritably after the first one didn’t stick to her pin. “You look good even without the flower.” Someone said from behind her. Bryn whirled around, and sure enough, there stood Dermott, as handsome as she remembered him to be. “Dermott…” she whispered, the flowers in her hands falling to the ground. “Hi, Bryn.” Dermott said. Bryn flung herself to his embrace. “Oh, Dermott, Dermott…” she said, crying to his shoulder. Dermott lifted her face, and rubbed her tears away with his thumb. “Don’t cry, my beautiful sorceress. I don’t want you to look like that on your wedding day.” He said to her. “Oh, Dermott, I never wanted to marry Sinbad! I want to marry you! I love you, Dermott. I love you very much!” She said to him. Dermott was sure he heard a herald of angels singing to them. “Oh, Bryn, I love you too.” And with that he stopped any further conversation by claiming her lips. Bryn sighed at the sensation. This was where she wanted to be; at the arms of the man she loved and loved her back. Suddenly, Dermott pulled away from her. “No, Bryn we can’t do this. You’re about to marry Sinbad.” He stepped away from her, his heart breaking at seeing her so beautiful, so alive, and so not his. “Goodbye, my love. I wish you all the luck in the world.” He said before misting away. “No, Dermott! Don’t leave me! No!” Bryn wailed, sinking to her knees in despair. ‘He loves me… I love him… yet we can never be together.’ She thought. Oh, how can life be so cruel to them?

Sinbad placed some rice powder in his face, just like what Cairpra told him to do. “I really look stupid.” He muttered to himself. “You got that right, captain.” Someone said to him, sarcasm dripping from her voice. Sinbad recognized that voice, that heavenly voice. “Maeve,” he said. “Of course it’s me.” Maeve said. Sinbad turned around slowly, and his breath was caught in his throat. She looked more beautiful than ever. But her eyes… it was red and puffy, as though she was crying for some time now. “What’s wrong, Maeve?” he asked, wanting nothing more than to take her in his arms and kiss those tears away. “You want to know what’s wrong? Everything’s wrong, Sinbad!” Maeve screamed. She took a deep breath, mentally cursing herself for losing it. “Everything’s wrong, Sinbad.” She repeated in a calmer voice. “For me, nothing is alright. For you, maybe this marriage is perfect, but it’s driving me insane! How can you not wait for me? How could you ditch me like that after the way I feel for you? After the way I… I loved you?” she whispered. Sinbad started to move closer to her, but her hand made him stop. “No, Sinbad. That’s all I wanted to say.” She said to him. He ignored the hand, he gathered her in his arms. “Oh, my precious Maeve… how I longed for this day… for the day that you would tell me you love me. I love you, too, my princess. I love you too.” He said before kissing her with passion and intensity that nearly made everything around them on fire. Maeve clung to Sinbad, as though she was being swept away by waves and he was a life support. Sinbad crushed her against his body, her heat the only thing he was aware of. They have found their other half, and neither one wanted to let go. Maeve willed herself and pulled away from Sinbad before slapping him squarely on the face. Sinbad rubbed the sore part of his cheek. “What was that for?” he asked. “That’s for not telling me you love me before this thing happened.” Maeve said. “Goodbye, Sinbad. I pray to Allah that he will guide you and Bryn everyday.” She said before misting away. “No, Maeve, don’t go! No!” Sinbad cried out to her. Tears gathered in his eyes and he quickly wiped them away. How can fate be cruel to them? How can they not be together though they loved each other?

Dermott waited for Maeve to appear, and when she did, he embraced her. They were both crying again. “Bryn told me she loved me.” Dermott told her. “Sinbad did love me, Dermott! He still does.” Maeve said to him. The siblings separated. “What are we going to do now?” Maeve asked. Dermott shrugged. “I don’t know, Maeve.” He said.

The ceremony has begun. Sinbad was waiting at the altar, with Doubar as his best man. Bryn was slowly walking towards them, smiling as best as she can. When Sinbad took her arm, she nearly cried but managed to hold it in. “Bryn, do you accept Sinbad, to have and to hold, to cherish and to love for all eternity”” the priest asked her. Bryn stared at Sinbad, at his eyes, and saw her answer. “No.” she answered. There was a loud gasp from the people who were watching. “What? Why?” they asked.

“Sister, Bryn said no!” Dermott told her. Maeve jumped from her seat, her eyes shining like the stars. Maybe there’s still hope. Grabbing for Dermott’s hand, they misted again, out of the room.

Bryn looked at the bewildered people, then jerked her head back to Sinbad. He was smiling, just as she expected him to be. “Thank you, Bryn.” Sinbad muttered before kissing her cheek. “Hey, what are friends for?” she said to him. Suddenly, she was swept off of her feet and into Dermott’s embrace. She shrieked with delight. “Dermott, put me down!” she said, laughing. “Not on your life, my beautiful sorceress.” Dermott said to her before the both of them misted away. Sinbad looked at the two of them, as happy as he could be. “Unggh. Look at those two. They’re disgusting!” Maeve said from behind him. Wearing a devious smile, Sinbad suddenly turned and wrapped his arms around Maeve’s waist. Then, he gently bent her and claimed her lips in front of all the people! The crowd, starting with Doubar, Rongar and Ferrous, burst with applause. Sinbad straightened her back up. Before Maeve could gain back her senses, Sinbad was already in front of her, kneeling, holding both of her hands close to his heart.. “Maeve, my beloved sorcerer’s apprentice, make me, this simple sailor, the happiest man on earth. Please say you’ll marry me.” Sinbad said, hoping that she would say yes. Maeve felt her eyes fill up with tears, but these tears were now of happiness. She traced Sinbad’s beautiful face with her hand and said with a heart full of love and loyalty, “Yes, my captain. I will marry you.” she said. Sinbad stood up and gave her a soft kiss on the lips.
