Consults with Others The school counselor consults with teachers to evaluate behaviors and individual needs of students, to assist in enhancing the total development of the students and to provide suggestions for behavior management. The school counselor consults with parents to promote effective parenting skills, to help with problems that may be occurring at home, and to follow up on concerns regarding the progress of the child.  Please do not hesitate to email or call the school counselor for assistance.  The school counselor is available to meet with parents who have questions or concerns about their children.  Parents are welcome to make an appointment with the school counselor to share and discuss  those concerns.  In addition, if there are any topics that you would like to know more about, please let the school counselor know.  The school counselor maintains a resource library containing information on a wide variety of academic and developmental issues. The school counselor consults with administrators to provide the most effective learning atmosphere schools can offer.

Coordinates Other Activities The school counselor works with community agencies to make appropriate arrangments for referrals and follow up services. The school counselor works with the special services staff to better serve students with special needs. The school counselor maintains a small but growing parent resource library containing information on a wide variety of academic and developmental issues. The school counselor can coordinate conferences for parents between parents, teachers, and/or students.  The school counselor may participate and contribute depending on the wishes of the parent and/or teacher. The school counselor may offer morning, afternoon or evening workshops on a variety of topics that may be of interest to parents.  Parent request and response determines the topic and time offered.  Please contact the school counselor via the email link at the bottom of the page or call extension #1748 with any requests. The school counselor contributes to the Morris Area Elementary School Newsletter; look for the Counselor's Corner in the newsletter for developmental and academic information.

Referrals The school counselor assists parents or teachers in finding a professional in the community to assist with individual student concerns.  The school counselor may also assist in locating a local support group or other professional for student needs.
