| * Helped manipulated an anterior hip dislocation * Irrigated puncture wounds * Seen two chest tubes put in. * Helped bag a patient that coded until respitory therapy arrived. * Inserted a folly/cath (yeah kind of iicky but cool to learn!) * Manipulated a nursemaid's ligament in a peds case. OK after months of working in the ER there are actually way too many things to put on here! I keep a journal for myself but there are details that I shouldn't put up here and I just don't have the time to edit them out. If anyone wants experience before heading to Med school I strongly suggest volunteering in the ER. If you have a great safe like mine they will let you interact as much as they think you are capable of. Every night I'm told by the doctors that I am already so ahead of my entering med school class becuase of the knowledge I've gained thru this experience! It has definitly shown me that this is indeed the field I want to go into! |
