| Tifa, born and raised within the sheltered, quiet town of Nibelheim, was a somewhat spoiled child, used to the attention she recieved from her group of friends as well as her two loving parents. When the new boy in town moved in next door, and her friends weren't ready to accept him, she thought nothing of it herself, allowing him to linger on the outskirts, but never actually enter her world. On the day of her mother's death, a distraught Tifa announced that she wanted to find out where her mother had gone to...Her first idea: the dangerous, mostly unexplored Nibelheim mountain peaks. Slowly, one by one, her friends dropped from following her, running back to town to abandone her to her fate. Only one remained, still keeping the distance between himself and the firey-spirited young girl. Cloud. Finally, reaching a rope bridge, her luck ran out...and in a twist of fate, Cloud emerged to rescue her; only to send them both plummiting from the rock face to the stoney bottom below. When they both came to, their parents were there, collecting the wayward children and ushering them home. That same night, Cloud got notice through to Tifa that he wanted to meet her out by the old well - he had something important he wanted to tell her. A little hesitant, and yet excited beyond her comprehension, she decided to go as he asked of her. The night was full of stars, the country sky clear of city smog or heavy clouds. Under the moonlight, Cloud confessed to her of his plans of leaving soon to join SOLDIER. To be a great warrior, to become a hero. "Let's make a promise, alright?", she asked after a moment, stareing down at her dangling feet that hung over the lip of the plank they shared. "When you become strong and famous..and if I'm ever in a bind...you'll come and save me, okay? Promise?" ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Years later when the seeds of war are just beginning to be sewn, fate brings a troup of ShinRa SOLDIERs to Nibelheim. The story, here, takes two turns....between the truth, and what time and other circumstances crafted into their memories. Initially, Tifa recalled that Cloud came back to her, strapping in his uniform, come to aid her and her town. What was later reveiled was that Cloud never made it into SOLDIER. As a lowly backup unit, keeping his face carefully concealed behind his mask, he watched from a distance, afraid to reveal himself to anyone. Especially Tifa. It was Zack who first discovered Sephiroths and the Reactors terrible secret..Zack first rose against the former legend to cease the madness that had blossomed in his mind... And yet, still, it was Cloud alone that was actually able to contain the darkness...stabbed through the middle, he still defeated Sephiroth the first time, throwing him down into the depths of the reactor core as tears streamed down from his Mako blue eyes for the death and desolation of his home. Returning to a tragically wounded Tifa, he scouped her up in his arms and carried her to saftey. "You did come....just like you promised you would..." ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ More years came and went, and Tifa grew and matured, settling herself in Midgar. With a bar she established with the money her year-dead father left her, she made due with the best life possible. The threats of war had, over even that short time, grew into full swing as nearly the entirely world fell under the expanded controll of the ShinRa cooporation and their ruthless leader, J. ShinRa. But Tifa also led a double life...as the main base operater of the underground organization known as AVALANCHE. Loudly voicing their opinion against ShinRa, they were responcible for numerous disastors within the company- a hopeful attempt to dethrown them and save the planet the were destroying to make new and better machines. It was on the night of one of their biggest operations that Tifa's path a third time crossed with Clouds. Now a waywarding mercenary for hire, he joined the group under the premis of getting a cut of what meager money they had saved. Overjoyed that he seemed to be doing well, Tifa non-the-less focused her attention on getting Cloud to see the good in what they were doing..something he could be a part of, if he wanted. |
