| Feb. 23, 2005 Bet not many of you can remember the last time that I completely shut up for two weeks... LOL The dive instructor program was intense. Intense like oh-my-god-how-am-I-ever-going-to-pass?!!! The last four days have been exams with the most recent two days being exams from the PADI examiners who flew in from California. It started with theory exams (physics, physiology, Recreational Dive Planner, equipment, environment and general knowledge), which ranged from 100% (equipment... want to talk extensively about J-valves, piston regulators, intermediate pressure in the first stage?) to 82.5% on the RDP. I'd like to make a special note of the 92% in physics since I used to SUCK so very bad and had to study my ass off to do all the stupid math. Then we went on to Standards exams (law, business, teaching, standards and procedures etc.). Each day started at 7:15 am and went until we were finished (usually around 5-6:00), then we went home to do teaching assignments for the next day. During the day we rotated between the pool, classroom and open water. We were teaching, attending lectures, doing drills in the pool, doing knot clinics, lift bag clinics, rescue classes, briefing, debriefing and, in a few minutes for lunch, trying to study the subjects we were weak in. At night we'd drag ourselves home, eat and continue to study until we fell asleep face-down in the massive pile of books. |
