| Madstone Transfer started back..... in December of 2000 in Normal, Illinois @ 402 Kingsley apt L. John and Ben (both Illinois State students) met while working together at a local restaurant. Ben's band the Cupboards had just broken up after losing their drummer to the (now international favorite) pop-punk band Allister. The two had struck up a conversation on John's first day at work and within a week the two were working on writing songs. Now they needed a drummer. After some jam sessions with a drummer or two and realizing that nothing was going the way they liked, John was informed that Rich had moved to Normal from Chicago to attend Illinois State University. John and Rich, who were both of the Oriole Park area of Chicago and attended the same elementary and high schools, had jammed together here and there in the years prior. Rich is a veteran of many chicago rock bands such as Kiss 'N' Ride, a current Chicago scene favorite. All John could remember of Rich was that he played the drums like it was his job. It took very little coaxing by Ben and John to get Rich to join up. Their first show was in late February of 2001 and they have been rockin' ever since. The Music Madstone Transfer's music is too pop to be called hard rock, but it is too loud and played with too much energy to be called pop rock. The easiest way to put it is MT plays hard rock with a pop edge or simply heavy pop. Their live sound is LOUD and in your face, impossible to ignore, accompanied by an energetic performance which is always a joy to watch. The guys have created their sound by drawing apon their influences such as bands like Triple Fast Action, Local H, Weezer, Hum, The Smashing Pumpkins, etc. They want to play the music that they can't find on the radio. They want to please music lovers that are disenchanted by MTV and the coporate controlled hard rock radio. Most importantly, they want open the eyes of those that are unaware of the music that is banging on the music industry's door fighting to rise above bands like Limp Bizkit, Creed, etc. |
