Who we are

How we're organised

We've created sub-committees to work on different activities.  These include:

A steering collective
      Creative arts
      Promotions & media
      Logistics
      Funding

Activities have been happening in all of these groups.

We also have general meetings every month, where we plan and discuss what's going on in the sub-committees, organise fun activities, and catch up.

We are a very new organisation, and need lots more people to join us - so if any of this sounds interesting to you, please come to our next meeting!  Meeting details are on the
home page of our site.
We are a group of people affected by mental illness, either through receiving a diagnosis, experiencing mental or sensory difference, as family members, friends, workers or supporters.
How did we start?
Back in May 2007, a few participants & staff at Prahran Mission, talked about the Mad Pride movement overseas and decided we wanted to start something ourselves.

In particular, we were keen to see if others were interested in organising activities and a Mad Pride march.  We sent out invites around Melbourne for people to attend a workshop to talk about it.

The first workshop
We had a great workshop in June that was attended by people from across Melbourne.  We had lots of great discussions, and decided that we wanted to form our own organisation, and we wanted a march.  For more details, read the minutes from this first meeting.
