GHV2 - 2001
GHV2 was released November 13, 2001. This album debuted at #7 and that will probably be the highest it will get. There are no new songs on here and everything is basically edited. Don't Cry for me & Human Nature are the bad versions. And these aren't 'hits', especially Human Nature, Bedtime Story, What it feels like for a girl, & Drowned World which wasn't even released in America! Ofcourse we have the following missing: I'll Remember, This used to be my Playground, Don't Cry for me argentina DANCE remix, You must love me, Fever, American Pie, You'll See, & Rain. Even Bad Girl peaked higher than some of these tracks. I don't know who's responsible for this wanna be Greatest Hits package. The inside booklet does have a great shit-load of pictures and a very funny story and the CD design is pretty cool, but they can fit new songs and some more old ones on this. You can also see that it says GHV2 in Madonna's eye on the cover.. WOW!..... I predict this to bomb...
We will call this one "The Un-Immaculate Collection".

Deeper and Deeper (edit) - Basically the only dance song before 1996 that we had was Deeper & Deeper and this album kicks off with this edit of the song which if you listen closely has some weird sounds in it.

Erotica (edit) - I love Erotica. We don't hear the 7 seconds of the record playing silence in the beginning on this album. This song hit #3 back in 92 and the video was played some few times after midnight back then. They still won't play the whole thing without ending it like 3mins early. They cut out parts on this album which I dont see the point why they do it? Just to be pain in the asses? Taking out 2 seconds here, 5 seconds there.. like it makes a big difference or something.

Human Nature (radio version) - That horrible version which we all forgot about which was on the regular single for Human Nature back in 95, somehow resurrected to this album. Whoever was responsible for putting this version on here needs a bullet in their head. I don't understand why the album version wasn't used, and due to an absent parental advisory sticker ever appearing on the "Bedtime Stories" album this song is not offensive with language. And if anyone was going to be anal about releasing that version the video version is awesome also. I will not be listening to "Human Nature" on this album.

Secret (edit) - Edit?!? They really needed to cut out 10 seconds or whatever from this beautiful song? Secret is one of my all-time favorites and it also peaked at #3 like Erotica did. She looks so good in this video I will forever remember that look in my head.

Don't Cry For Me Argentina (radio edit) - WARNING: SLOW VERSION!!! Don't be deceived by seeing 'radio edit', it is NOT the dance version. Ofcourse you expected the crappy version to appear, I can't believe the mindlessness in the planning & choices for this album.

Bedtime Story (edit) - Peaking at #42 back in 95 does not qualify as being a 'greatest hit', but it is one of the only few tracks which I could bare to listen to b/c I like the way it starts off louder than the slow fade in on the Bedtime Stories album. The video for this song is my favorite one of her's yet.

The Power Of Good-Bye - Ok this is a beautiful song, but what is it doing over here at track 7 after Bedtime Story? This song peaked at #11 on the charts back around September 98.

Beautiful Stranger (William Orbit Radio Edit) - I think the edit just fades it out a little earlier, nothing highly noticeable.. still why edit anything at all? Beautiful Stranger just made the top 20 back in 99 hitting #19 for a week based on airplay alone, since Madonna was going through that stage in her life where she gave up releasing singles in the U.S. The video showed her looking 'hot' & 'bang' again.

Frozen (edit) - Frozen is track 9 on both here & the Ray of Light album. The editing of this song is ok, they take out most of the already too much instrumental parts of this song. Frozen was the kick-off single for the Ray of Light album and won an MTV video music award for

Take A Bow (edit) - If your argument for this attempt of a 2nd greatest hits album of not including Rain, You'll See, I'll Remember, & This Used to be my Playground was that they were on Something To Remember, your theory is misproved here for Take A Bow makes a 3rd appearnce on a Madonna album. This song is her highest most weeks at #1 in the U.S. sitting at the top spot for 7 weeks. The video was shot in Spain & MTV did a whole hour special: "No more Bull" the making of "Take A Bow", the first really behind the scenes looks of making a video. This song was only performed once in our lives at the American Music Awards.

Ray of Light (radio edit) - Ray of Light to me is most amazing for it's music all over the place and its constant explosion of energy, and to edit that out of a song is just simply wrong. This song debuted and peaked at #5 when it was released back in spring 98. Video cleaned up the MTV Music Awards that year where Madonna embarassingly attempted to perform this song. This video was also her 2nd video single for sale and there is a remix video of this video which is very cool but a little too long.

Don't Tell Me - Don't Tell me to stoppppppppppp.. No complaints about this one. I still love it, and I've seen basically every performance of it and I love the choreography for this song. This song peaked at #4 under 3 rap/R&B songs back in February '01.

What it Feels Like For A Girl - The one song on this collection that should be edited is sadly not. We still have that Spice Girl sounding woman babbling in this song which is not on the Radio Edit version which is on the What It Feels Like For A Girl promo. This song is Madonna's most worded song title hitting 7 words. This used to be my playground has 6 obviously, and comes in 2nd.

Drowned World / Substitute For Love - Who doesn't belong on this album? Guess who snuck his way in. Obviously this was never released in America and clearly does NOT deserve to be placed on a greatest hits cd. Apparently, Madonna is obsessed with this song because she also named her tour after it. This song debuted & peaked at #10 in the UK and the video shows a night out for Madonna is like.

Music
- This upsetting journey of samples of some of the songs released since the immaculate collection ends with the one song that got Madonna back on the top of the charts. Music video is OK and I actually went to the strip club where it was filmed in Los Angeles. And I am in love with the Music Montage video that was played at the tour and all over the place during the promotion for various Madonna releases. Music was in the top 2 for 8 or 9 weeks being at #1 for 4 of them.
