EVITA - 1996
Evita was released in November 1996, it sold over 11 million copies worldwide and it peaked at # 2 thanks to No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom. This album contains 1 top 10 hit. Another cd was released later on as a single disc of the best songs from this soundtrack and that album failed to even enter the top 100. As you can tell I'm not a big fan of anything Evita except Dont Cry For Me Remix. I also hate that she didn't tour the Bedtime Stories album because she had to save her voice to do this whole thing.

Disc One

A Cinema In Buenos Aires, 26 July 1952 - Intro, the beginning of the movie when the people are informed that Evita died, you don't need to listen more than once. (No singing)

Requiem For Evita - Another snore, mostly instrumental and then a chorus shouting nonsense.

Oh What A Circus - Cool melody but Antonio Banderas is singing.. Madonna doesn't sing til the end of this track saying something about sharing her glory and coffin and Dont cry for me argentina. Worst line in this song: Outside the casa rosa they crying Eva Peron!

On This Night Of A Thousand Stars - Ok, enough Antonio, I'm sick of your voice already, No Madonna Vocals here.

Eva And Magaldi/Eva Beware Of The City - She wants to be a part of Buenos Aires, this is a duet and its musical sounding. Worst line: No ones told the papers.. so far!!! .. so dumb.

Buenos Aires - Intended to be the 4th and final release from this Evita project thing but dropped. There was a 12" promo with mixes made. This song is alright, definately one of the better ones on this whole soundtrack.

Another Suitcase In Another Hall
- 3rd single which was released only outside the U.S.. Nobody complaining about that I'm sure. This is one of the very few tracks I can handle from this movie. "So what happens now??? Where am I going to?" Something we all think about in our lives.

Goodnight And Thank You - Magnificent duet between Madonna and Antonio. Great music as well, its fun to sing along with these two.

The Lady's Got Potential - A lame attempt to make a good sounding rock song. No Madonna vocals here.

Charity Concert/The Art Of The Possible - This is the track that sounds like there are 238 different songs on this one track and they all suck! The only thing that Madonna says on this track is 'your act hasn't changed much'.

I'd Be Surprisingly Good For You - A sad sounding song musically and Madonna's vocals are beautiful, the only thing I can't stand and hate is that other guy singing with her.. NOT a good match at all, he sounds like he's 99 years old, get him out of here. Reminds me of that other bad duet What can you lose?

Hello And Goodbye - Bareable.. it's less than 2 minutes. Think there's some Another suitcase in another hall music and lines in there.

Peron's Latest Flame - A headache.

A New Argentina - An anthem sounding song, not bad.

Disc Two

On The Balcony Of The Casa Rosada 1 - A headache: "PERON!, PERON!, PERON!, PERON!, PERON!...".

Don't Cry For Me Argentina - 2nd single landing at #8 on the charts. No regular single was released just a maxi containing all the remixes to this song. However in this case, all these remixes sound exactly the same so this most of this maxi is pretty much useless. The video that MTV and VH1 played was taken directly from the movie where she stands on the balcony and speaks to the people. The remix is specatcular as well as the original why there wasn't a regular single with the album version and the remix as the B-side is beyond me.

On The Balcony Of The Casa Rosada 2 - Madonna shouting to people about stuff related to the movie, that I could care less about, as they sing demadingly sounding back to her.

High Flying Adored - This is a nice song. Madonna looks the best in this movie during this song.

Rainbow High - B-side to You Must Love Me, it's listenable.

Rainbow Tour - "Lets hear it for the rainbow tour!" thats all i know.

The Actress Hasn't Learned The Lines (You'd Like To Hear) - Fat ladies singing then Madonna sounding almost as bored as we are by listening to it. Some melody of Another suicase in another hall is in here too.

And The Money Kept Rolling In (And Out) - Antonio singing again to gay sounding music.

Partido Feminista - Madonna shouting again while the fat ladies sing demandingly.

She Is A Diamond - A nice piano but then that terrible old man voice comes in again and ruins it.

Santa Evita - Sounds like your typical 3rd grade chorus class. But then gets very annoying!

Waltz For Eva And Che - This one is good, another duet between Madonna and Antonio.

Your Little Body's Slowly Breaking Down - That man with the terrible voice is here again to attempt to sing, then Madonna sings back to him, shes dying in the process.

You Must Love Me
- 1st single and hit a low #18. Oscar and Golden Globe winner for best original song. She performed this at the 1997 Oscars and this video is terrible. Shes sitting behind a piano hiding her pregnancy and starting to look old. =( They couldn't have made a video before she got pregnant?

Eva's Final Broadcast - Another Don't cry for me argentina sounding track but it sounds like shes crying and dying.. finally!

Latin Chant - People singing and then pain in the ass Antonio shows up again to repeat some earlier lines.

Lament - Finally, the last song Madonna sings for about a minute and I think she then dies in the movie.. Halleluia! Some strings and bells end out the soundtrack.
