My life history
I was born and raised in a small mountain villiadge in Japan.  In 1991, after living with my parents for 24 years, I moved to Canada to pursue a Master's degree.

Since then, I have lived in several cities in Canada (Fredericton, Chalk River, Saint John, Grand Manan Island and Vancouver) and traveled most major cities in eastern Canada.

I met  my husband Darrin soon after I started my master's program and we got married in 1993.  My son Zack was born in 1994 and I wrote my M.Sc. thesis while nursing him at home.

We moved to Vancouver in 1995 in order for me to pursue a PhD degree.  With all the hustle of running between school and daycare and Darrin taking care of Zack on weekends, I managed to complete the study.  It was tough but also fun!

We came to Umea, Sweden in Jan 2000 for my postdoctoral training, where we live to this date.  Zack is fluent in Swedish and keeps correcting my pronounciation.

We will move back to Canada this summer but don't know exactly where.  Our journy will continue until we find the final settlement.
