Plot Oversights

Tommy has several newspaper articles concerning the Myers murders.  One of them is from 1963 and the headline is about the murder of Judith Myers.  This newspaper clipping looks perfect even though 32 years have passed since the article was published.  Maybe they are photo copies.

Who is Michael's drycleaner??? After John Strode's head explodes Michael must have been drenched in blood and brain matter.  His mask would have been ruined but later he appears fine.  Maybe he has a few extra masks stashed away like Batman or something..

At one point, Loomis, Tommy, Kara and Danny lock themselves in Ms. Blakenshps house.  You would think that Tommy and Dr. Loomis would know that doors/windows do not stop Michael Myers.  Maybe they forgot this fact but of course we learn that Wynn is controlling Michael and therfore he wouldn't continue his prusuit.

Tommy and Loomis make the trip from Haddonfield to Smiths Grove in record time.  They also recovered from their drugged stupor pretty quick. Man those 1995 cars can move!!!

During the film, Kara jumps out of a second story window and survives without any injury of any kind.  Pretty amazing if you consider how hard she must have hit the ground!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know what Tommy injected Michael with but apparently it makes him bleed green blood just like Mr. Spock from Star Trek.

After watching this film I have to ask myself one question.  What happened to Dr. Wynn?? Was he killed in Michaels feast on the doctors, patients and nurses in Smiths Grove????

Jamie leaves her baby in a bus stop bathroom.  You would think that the child would have cried out at some time prior to Tommys arrival.  The baby must have been in that cupboard for several hours and would desire food, and a diaper change!!! Maybe little Steven (Jamies son) is a quiet child.

Typical horror movie stupidy, Kara after seeing Beth hacked to pieces goes into the Myers house. (her first mistake) Then she pulls back the cover on the bed to reveal Tim and Beth's corpses.  (Second mistake) She already knows that Beth is dead so why go through the trouble?

Boy, the Myers house has changed since 1989.  It looks completely different including the configuration of the house and the location of the rooms.  I guess the Strodes did some major renovations!!

Probably the biggest noticeable screw-up is the fact that Jamie should only be 15 years old, but appears to be in her 20's.  This is due to the fact that Harris wasn't brought back, I never understand these problems that occur with horror movies.  Everybody gets money hungry.

Also, like her uncle Mikey, Jamie can drive even though she was abducted well before her 16th birthday.  Who taught her to drive???

At one point Debra Strode calls her husband and talks to him about the Myers family and the history of their former home.  For a town that went through three Halloweens in which so many residents were murdered you would think that everyone would know about Michael Myers.  Apparently, Debra is stupid, doesn't talk to neighbors or she lives in her own world.

To go along with the last nitpick, Tommy Doyle would be very famous indeed since he was one of the few survivors of Michael's wrath in 1978.  However, at one point Beth says "some scary shit happened to him when he was a kid" (In reference to Tommy). You would think that more people would be a little bit more knowledgeable about Halloween 1978.

Loomis seems to make the trip from Haddonfield to Smith's Grove (which are 150 miles apart) in record time.  In Halloween and Halloween 4 it takes Loomis a while to traverse the distance.  Maybe Loomis hitched a ride with Captain Kirk and the Enterprise from Star Trek.

After Tim's murder, Kara calls the Myers/Strode home which has no electricity.  Beth picks up a cordless phone and begins to speak with Kara. This is not possible since cordless phones have bases that run on electric. If the power is out, the phone doesn't work.

Debra Strode mispronounces her daughter's name at the beginning of the breakfast scene. She pronounces it as "Carr-uh" rather than "Care-uh." Of course, the actual spelling is Kara, the other ones are just for pronunciation purposes.  Maybe it is because Kara vanished for several years!!

Tommy goes to the bus station and a map of the towns of Illinois appears on the wall.  Notice that Haddonfield and Smiths Grove (150 miles apart in the film) are located in between Pontiac and Dwight which are 18 miles apart in reality! That's how far apart the Amtrak stations are from each other according to the Amtrak timetable/schedule.

When Kara, Danny, and Tommy are running from Michael, they go into the room with the dead fetus's.  Kara locks the door, with there being two locks on the door ( you can here her locking both of them).  But, when Michael punched the door and rips the door nob, you can see that there are two locks on it and only one hole for the bottom one to only lock.  How did Kara lock the door when the upper one didn't even go to another lock?

Continuity and Other Production Errors

When John Strode goes downstairs, his hair goes from dry, to moist/wet looking and hanging down.

There are continuity problems with the blood on Jamie's chin when she is being impaled on the farm equipment.

When Tommy is on the phone with Barry Simms, he holds the phone and types on his keyboard with his right hand simultaneously!

Michael kills Barry Simms at the carnival, then suddenly, Michael appears at the Myers' house.  Maybe Halloween 6 is similar to Scream!! Two Michaels???

Howard Stern was asked to play the role of Barry Simms (originally named Harry Simms -- initials H.S. like Howard Stern) but ended up declining, in part because of the attention he had to put towards his (then) future movie, PRIVATE PARTS.  It would have been cool to have Howard in the film!!

Movie Review

From Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide.

Pursued by the masked killer, Michael's niece escapes from mysterious catacombs with her newborn baby. Then he starts killing a family which has the misfortune merely to live in his former home. Routine slash-fest, of interest only to the dedicated, even though this time it links Michael to the Druids!

Mike's Take

Overall I hate this film more than any other movie in the series.  A part of me enjoys Halloween III more than this film.  Halloween VI is such a waste in so many ways.  I think Michael's mask sucks and he isn't portrayed properly.  I dislike the role of Tommy, I wish they would have used more of the original actors for the film.  H6 ruins the Tommy Doyle character in my opinion.  The ending is by far the worst ending to any of the films.  I really hate the role of the man in black and the producers really ruined the storyline by making him.  Overall I give the film 1 out of 5 stars.
