My Frustration: The Quarterback position since 1986.

The following can be found in Volume 11 Issue 4 of Silver and Black Illustrated. Published in Rochester , NY on Aug, 31 1999:

One of the biggest weakness from 1986-1998 was the shaky play of their quarterbacks.  In the 13 years since Jim Plunkett retired in 1986, the Raiders have struggled at the position.  It seemed like the man behind center was a revolving door and consistency was not common.  In fact, the Raiders had twelve different men throw passes for them before Gannon arrived in 1999.  Due to injury or ineffective play, most of this bunch were free agent flops and draft wastes.  Only Hostetler and Gannon showed the ability to be effective.  Rich Gannon was the 13th different QB to throw passes for the Raiders.  Since Gannon's retirement the Raiders have started five quarterbacks in four years.
