Harvey Williams: Ready for Anything!!!

    Harvey Williams began his career with the Los Angeles Raiders in 1994.  The Raiders had just finished a 10-6 campaign the year previous but were looking for a running back to take the pressure of of quarterback Jeff Hostetler.  Harvey was a former Kansas City Chief who was looking for a second chance in the NFL.  Also, the Raiders had gone through Roger Craig, Eric Dickerson and many other backs and sought stability at the running back position.

    Harvey was a great all-around back who could catch, run and throw.  In 1995 he became the first Raider to rush for more than 1000 yards in a Raider uniform since 1985.  He also scored nine touchdowns and added 54 receptions.  In 1997 he scored four touchdowns in one game against arch rival San Diego.  In 1995 the Raiders drafted Napoleon Kaufman and he began to cut into Williams' playing time.  Ever a team player, Williams played backup tight end, third-down back and always tried to help out.  In 1998 Williams retired but his career as a Raider will never be forgotten.  He was considered a terrible player but he became a stable, runner who Oakland turned into a winner!!
