Ben Davidson: Oakland Raider Toughguy
What can I say? Ben Davidson was the ultimate defensive end who pressured and flattened quarterbacks. Ben spent two years with the Washington Redskins but he just didn't fit in in the upper class Washingtonian society. After all he is a 6-foot-8 inch, 275 pound bruiser who takes no prisoners and his main focus is the quarterback. Davidson didn't believe that the quarterback must go down on every play but he believed that a quarterback must go down HARD on every play.
"Big Ben" was part of the Raider defensive unit that produced 67 sacks in 1967 which is still a team record. But Davidson was always at the center of controversy, especially when he played rivals like Joe Namath, Len Dawson or Bob Griese. He was just as well known for his hits after a pass was thrown as he was when the ball was still in the quarterback hands. Here are just a few of Davidson's exploits.
