Barenaked Ladies:
Maybe You Should Drive
After the Barenaked Ladies' debut
album, they set to work on their second album, Maybe You Should Drive
(1994). The Ladies "calmed down"
their humorous lyrics and wrote some more serious
songs for this album. Skip to the bottom of the page to buy Maybe

But first, here are the highlights of
the songs on this album, or you can read the lyrics.
GENERAL COMMENTS: This CD is the most
mellow of them all, defiantly a huge change from Gordon (1992). Although some
great songs such as “Jane”, “A”, “Alternative Girlfriend”, “These Apples”, and
“Life, in a Nutshell” appear on the album, this is generally considered by many
fans to be the Ladies’ weaker works.
Some other notable differences are that Steve sings most of the album,
unlike Gordon, which had many co-lead and group vocals. Writing credits change as Steve co-writes 4
songs with Stephen Duffy. Steve and Ed
only write 2 songs together on this album.
