ANTI-SMOKING CAMPAIGNS. COST EFFECTIVE? |

Although the percentage of smokers in the US population has fallen from 42% in 1865 to 24% in 1998, the number has held steady at around 50 million. Federal, state and local governments now collect $80 million a day from smokers, and spend $880 million a year on anti-smoking campaigns.
