Bello's Update Page 12/10/03 04/13/05
Okay, here's the updates. It's been about a year since we've last seen Joel. He does this disappearing thing every now and again. No one knows why, but maybe he'll come back again someday. Bill has been busy with school, so he hasn't been up here in about a year as well. But they both know the door is always open for them. Also, as far as the beer drinking goes,...well....we've kinda gone lightly on it. I've switched to light beer, and doug's just about stopped drinking from Modays-thrusdays. I know. We've gone against the previous nature of our acts. But hey, if we kept it all up with drinking every night until the wee hours and then staggering into work the next day we'd probably be trailer park bound in a matter of a few years. Also, recently added to the list of party people is Katie. She's a friend of ours and Doug's former roommate (he now lives at home again with mom and dad for the time being.) Lately, when hanging out and drinking with Doug she's been hanging out as well and has been great company. . I think it's time to consider her an honorable Sausage Crew member. Suddenly I'm reminded of a great story. It was last May. I was at Doug and Katie's place, (actually, Doug they lived in a triple decker. Doug lived in the middle floor with his sister and Alyssa, Katie's sister. Katie lived downstairs with Dave, who really loved classic rock.. Anyway, it was a Saturday night and a whole group of us were set to go out and have a great night out. I was sick that night. So sick, that when we were sitting downstairs having a pre-partying party, i was sitting there hacking up a lung. I was coughing soo hard my face turned three different colors. Needless to say, by the time it came to go out i just went home. But the next week, i couldn't wait. After a long, tiresome day at work I was set to hang out and chill and do it right this time. i was feeling healthy and ready to hang out and have a great time. So we're (myself, Doug, Katie, Yuuta, Jen, Michelle, lisa and Dave are down in Katie and Dave's. We hung out there for awhile, and in the meantime I enjoyed about four beers. we head out to the bars at around 11 or so. I was riding with Jen, and we were heading to a bar called The Dive. Jen and i had gotten there first. We parked the car in a parking lot across the road from the Dive and went to cross the street. One side looked clear, and the far side looked fairly clear as well, with one car coming from off in the distance. We decided to cross. We walked across the street, vaguely aware of the car coming at us from the far side of the street. Now when you cross a road, you except people to see you in their headlights and slow down as they get closer. Well, this car got closer and wasn't slowing AT ALL. Jen and I realized in a split second that we were staring donw the headlights of a car coming at us at about fifty that had no intention of stopping. We were both right in the middle of the lane, wtih no where to go but across to the safety of sidewalk. The car, now no more than ten feet away from us, kept coming. We darted to the side of the road as fast as we could..... Jen made it across. And so did I! .....Well, alright. I didn't make it. I was mere inches away from safety when...THWUNK! For the second time in my life, I was struck by a moving car. As I was running/leaping to the safety of the other side of the road,, my left ankle was up in the air behind me when it was struck by the speeding car's front left fender. The impact was enough to turn me around and send me sprawling unto a parked car before rolling off and onto the pavement. I hit the ground with my ankle throbbing and my sneaker knocked cleanly off my foot and coming to rest a few feet away.. All i remember is sitting there shouting at the fleeing car "FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKING FUCKKEEEEEEEEERRR!!!!!!!" Hey, I'd just gotten hit and almost seriously hurt, in the heat off my anger it was the best i could come up with. I foolishly raised myself to my feet and hobbled for my shoe as Jen stood there on the sidewalk amazed of the fact that she had a "near death experience and that her life flashed before her eyes. Shw told me she "couldn't believe she'd almost got hit by that car." "Uhhhh Jen? I did get hit by the car." I was now leaning on a nearby car to support my weight. My ankle was killing me. By that time some of the instantaneous adrenaline had worn off and the pain was in full force. I also noticed soreness in my elbow from when I hit the ground hard. I sat back down on the sidewalk and grimaced at the pain in my foot. Jen knew i was in pain and headed to the nearby bar to get some help or an icepack for my now "super-sized" swollen ankle. (Let me take this moment to explain that my body has a tendancy to go into shock at the slightest of instances. Not to the point that if i get midlly bumped or bruised however it does take a bit more. Case in piont, Needles. I was once needlephobic. I know it doesn't hurt, but when they go in and come out, so do I. Shock sets in and I slowly fade out unitl I'm barely conscious. The sensation is like getting very drunk. you can see everything, hear everything, you just can't interact for shit. Then I slowly fade back in. The whole thing takes only a few minutes but feels like forever.) So there I was, sitting on the sidewalk outside a bar in worcester at 11:30 at night feeling shock start to set in after I'd just been hit by a car. i was starting to fade out. It was sadly humorous seeing people come out of the bar and stare at me as though i was either homeless or drunk, not even knowing they were looking at a sober victim of a hit and run. Jen came back with some ice, as Michelle arrived and came over to where we were. She asked if i was okay and i answered "no." She asked if i needed to go to a hospital. I actually pondered that question for a moment beofre deiding it would be best. I knew there was no sense in trying to just "tough this one out". This didn't feel like something I could just simply "walk off". She called an ambulance to the location, and then promptly rang Doug's cell phone and told him. "Small problem. A member of our party was just hit by a car.....yeah, he looks alright except for his ankle....." I started to really fade out....Next thing i knew Doug, Katy, and Yuuta were there asking what happened. I simply expalined to them that I got hit by a car. I wasn't in the mood to give a long explanation. Yuuta, an off duty EMT, took charge of the scene by checking my vitals and giving me as thorough as she could EMT once-over. I was fading out quick now. i was barely there. I muttered that I needed to take off my jacket, I was starting to get those gross cold sweats. I felt like vomiting. The sensation lasted for a few minutes with Yuuta talking to me the whole time though I don't really remember anything she'd said. The shock subsided slowly as the wailling sounds of sirens could be heard. Momentarily, the ambulance arrived from the hospital no more than half a mile down the road. The EMT's got out and got a status report from Yuuta before tending to me. I ended up getting loaded onto a gurney and wheeled into the back of the ambulance. Amongst a few words of encouragement, I hear Doug call out, "Bello you're the king!" I flashed the trademark grin as well as the equally trademarked thumbs-up before the back doors were closed and i was whisked off the hospital. In the end, the asshole was never caught. Neither Jen or I could get the plate or make of the car. I ended up with a bit of road rash on my elbow, a contusion on my ankle, as well as a bad sprain. I was on crutches for at least a week. But that's how Bello got hit by the car.

UPDATE 04/13/05
Yeah, i know what you're thinking....Shit. this is a big ass gap in between updates. well, yeah, it really is, and for that i do apologize. It was fellow 8A memeber Bill Swenson who brought me back to reason and inspired this alcohol fueled trip back into memory lane. ANd so here we are again. Not too much has changed in this time period, though i now have some pics of Donnie's Parties. Plus a link to Bill's site, though i don't know who the frat man is with the goatee and long hair. It's sad to say that it's been 18 months since my last update and not much has happened. I turned thirty, (damnit!) I'm still happily with the love of my life, Tracy,. and the most exciting thing i get to do on a friday night is watch Battlestar Galactica with Doug at ten o clock. With the absence of Bill Swenson, and another lengthy disappaerance from Joel (COME BACK JOEL!!!!) the 8A scene now seems to be on life support as it is. Hell, it's in worse shape than Terry Shiavo. With Katy off working her job all hours of the day (and night) and Doug off to school, as well as Bill, and no sign of Joel, 8A has faded from it's former glory....it's sad, but it's true. My only hope is that with the onset of summer, with the ending of the college school year, that some of this place's old nightly inhabitants will return on an almost nightly basis and drink it up like we once did. Otherwise, 8A will be nothing more than this website, a forgotten memory, a sad glance at what once was great. But on the other hand, I FINALLY GOT THE PICS UP!!
NO SERIOUSLY, THE PICS ARE UP!
