If You Thought....

If you thought this life would be easy
And that love would be a shield from the storms life has to offer
A shelter from the battering of decisions being made
You were wrong

If you thought that your dream world could never be shattered
That your bubble owuld protect you from the harsh light of day
And that the sand that covers you head would be enough
Think again.

If you thought that love could banish all sadness
And your kight would be strong enough to conquer all your demons
That he could deal with all cards dealt with sympathy and honour
You're mistaken.

If you thought you knew your own mind
And understood  just what you need, you knew your dreams inside out
\And your soul had empathy
You're in for a revelation.

Wake up you silly girl, you are not a youngster anymore
You cannot wish upon a shooting star
If you stay here doing nothing, you really won't get far.
Wake up and smell the roses that are right under your nose,
No good you complaining that nothing has gone right,
The oppurtunity was there but it has been and gone,
This is now your life, time to move on.
The tides wont wait,
Reality check,
This life has to be lived, the dreams can never be real
You realised them too late.

Have You Ever......

Have you ever held a mans heart in your hands for so long it becomes a part of you?
Have you ever merged with his soul, and knew what was on his mind?
Have you ever seen the reflection in his eyes of your flame for him burning out?
Have you ever caused him pain and felt the lonliness of love's drought?
Have you ever felt his passion for you burn and scold your skin?

Have you ever put aside your dreams and made his needs a priority in all that you do?
Have you ever watched your own life become detatched from your control?
Have you ever found yourself hopelessly drowning in your own tears?
Have you ever looked in the mirror and seen all of your worst fears?
Have you ever had a battle with fate and realised you just can't win?
Beached.

A gentle wave lapping at the beach, the sunshine warming your feet
How good it feels to watch seagulls fly and smell sea salt in the air,
Diving and soaring with ease and grace, sandcastles once built
With imagination and flair, now just a photograph, a mound of wet sand.

Pebbles heaving a sigh of relief, crabs scuttle back out to sea
Hidden by rockpools and seaweed, the limpets, fish and winkles,
Cling on waiting, for a ride back out on the waves,
Crashing against rocks, boulders and driftwood.
The sand piper stands and stares.
